NOTICE OF VACANCIES
The Sugar Industry Labour Welfare Fund (SILWF), a body corporate operating under the aegis of
the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, is inviting applications from suitably qualified
candidates to fill in the following vacancies:
I AGE LIMIT
Candidates should have reached their 18th birthday and, unless already in the Local
Government/Government Service/Approved Service, should not have reached their 45th birthday by the
closing date for the submission of applications.
II QUALIFICATIONS
III DUTIES
1. To be responsible to the General Manager for ensuring the smooth flow of information in the
Fun and for supervising the Registry and the Staff under his control and keeping track of all
correspondences and records;
2. To draft the agenda and minutes of proceedings of Committee meetings and relevant papers
required by the Committee;
5. To represent the Fund in Court and to liaise with the Legal Adviser and the Attorney, as
appropriate;

6. To use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the performance of duties; and
7. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the
delivery of the output and results expected from the Secretary in the roles ascribed to him.
IV SALARY SCALE
The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in the scale of Rs 29050 x 825 – 35650 x 900 –
37450 x 950 - 42200 x 1300 – 46100 x 1575 – 49250 x 1650 –54200 x 1700 – 62700 (PRB 2021)
Appointment in the grade in a temporary capacity will carry salary at the flat rate of Rs 29050 a month.

II QUALIFICATIONS
(ii) At least two years’ post-qualification experience in the field of Information and Communication
Technology.
III DUTIES
(ii) assembling, maintenance and repairs of computer equipment, projectors, servers, Local Area Network,
cabling, networking and other peripherals of the Fund;
(iii)setting up of ICT logistics for seminars, workshops and any other events;
(b) To monitor and report faults in hardware and software systems and
provide prompt intervention;
(e) To provide technical specifications and advice in all ICT and related
equipment as well as the network system of the Fund;

(f) To keep an inventory of ICT equipment and accessories;
(g) To liaise with suppliers of ICT equipment and review service level
agreements;
2. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or
related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the ICT
Technician in the roles ascribed to him.
Note
The ICT Technician may be required to work outside normal working hours including
Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
IV SALARY SCALE
The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in the scale of Rs 21850 x 375 – 22225 x 400 –
23425 x 525 – 26050 x 675 – 27400 x 825 – 35650 x 900 – 37450 x 950 – 42200 x 1300 – 46100 x
1575 – 47675 (PRB 2021)
Appointment in the grade in a temporary capacity will carry salary at the flat rate of Rs 21850 a month.
II QUALIFICATIONS
Cambridge School Certificate or London General Certificate of Education with a pass at ordinary
level in five subjects including English Language at one and the same sitting or an alternative qualification
acceptable to the Committee.
III DUTIES
1. To type, collate and, if qualified as Word Processing Operator, to take and transcribe
shorthand notes.
2. To perform simple clerical duties, as and when required, to ensure speedy handling of
correspondence, although clerical work does not form part of the normal duties

of a Word Processing Operator.
4. To perform such other duties directly related to the Main duties listed above or related to the
delivery of the output and results expected from incumbents in the roles ascribed to them
according to their postings.
IV SALARY SCALE

18925x300 – 19525x325 – 21475x375 – 22225x400 – 23425x525 - 26050x675 – 27400x825

MODE OF APPLICATION
a) Qualified candidates should submit their application on the prescribed form which may be
obtained at the HR Section of SILWF, 1st Floor, 15-21 Edith Cavell Street, Port Louis;
b) Incomplete, inaccurate or inadequate filling of the Application Form shall entail elimination of the
applicant;
c) Applicant should possess all certificates/ qualifications/ testimonials at the time of application;
e) Copies of relevant certificates and National Identity Card must be attached to the application;
f) The originals of birth and educational certificates should not be submitted with the application,
but applicants should produce these if and when called upon to do so; and
g) The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant local
authorities rests on the candidate.
The duly completed application forms should reach the General Manager, Sugar Industry Labour
Welfare Fund, 15-21 Edith Cavell Street, Port Louis, not later than 3.30 p.m on 07 December 2023.
The envelope should be clearly marked the post applied for on the top left hand corner.
NOTE
b) applications not made on the prescribed form and late applications will not be considered;
c) selected candidates would be required to present their character certificate during interview;
d) the SILWF reserves the right not to make any appointment as a result of this advertisement.
