VISIT REPORT

TITLE: Visit to NABL accredited Test Laboratory

Aim: Visit to Nashik Engineering Cluster ( NEC)
Objective:
1. To understand the necessity and importance of measurement and calibration.
2. To learn to apply proper methods of measurement
3. Study of various standards (IS/IEC) related to calibration process of various instruments and
NABL accredited Test Laboratory.

Introduction:
Nashik engineering cluster is a Non govt company, incorporated on 12 sept 2007. It is a
public unlisted company and is classified as ‘company limited by guarantee.’ Nashik
Engineering cluster typically refers to a group or association of engineering- related business
or organization located in or around Nashik, India. These cluster aim to foster collaboration,
knowledge sharing, and growth within the engineering sector in that specific region.

Nashik engineering cluster is Nashik is NABL accredited calibration and testing Labs, it is its
strongest pillar. NEC are NABL accredited for 150/.IEC 17025:2017:-

1. Calibration services (since 2011)

2. Electrical Testing (since 2015)

3. Electro technical testing (since 2015)

4. Environmental testing (since 2015)

5. Mechanical & chemical testing (2015)

NEC server more than 500 industries of the region and spreads up to the base middle South
east Asia east .
NEC’s Electrical, Mechanical and chemical testing laboratories are approved by DGAOA as
one of the only DGAOA independent test lab in western India Approval received from 1st Nov
2021.

The paradigm shift of NEC is:-

o From-Educated=Employable
o From-Qualified=Industry ready
NEC has set up Industrial safety Gallery & safety training centre approved by Directorate
of safety Health, Govt of Maharashtra For promoting safety and Consciousness among
Industrial creating skilled manpower will equipped for safe Operations on Industries.

Theory:
In 3D Printing section we observed about the various types of machines such as, Plastic 3D
printing and Metal 3D printing. Materials used for Plastic & metal printing are Polycarbonate,
Nylon. This structure design was used under the AutoCad software. Then in testing section,
Calibration process was observed in transformer and also potential test, High Voltage test was
observed.

Manufacturing of equipment:

1) 3D printing: Largest size is India high product accuracy.

a) Fer plastic Materials (ABS/PC):

o Built size 900 × 600 × 900mm.

o Stratasys, USA - FDM 900 m/c.
b) For metal 3D printing (MS/SS) :

o Built size 250 × 250 × 215mm.

o Metal Rapid Prototyping EOS INT M-270 machine.

2) Electrical Test lab:

a) High voltage set up 1KV to 100KV:

Applications: High voltage test on-
o CT switchgear products
o MV switchgear products
o Current Transformer

b) Lightning Impulse to set up 10KVp to 300KVp:

Applications: Impulse test on-

o Potential Transformers
o Vaccum Contactors
o Insulators/cables/Fuse.
c) Partial Discharge set up to 50000.pc, 100KV AC

Application: partial discharge Measurement on LT & MV switchgear products

d) Mobile capacitance & Tan Delta set up to 10 KV

Application: capacitance and Tan Delta Measurement on all oil immersed products.

3) Environmental Test Lab:

a) Vibration & shock Testing: USA combined climatic Vibration/Bump/ Shock

b) Climatic chamber -60°C to 180°C, 98% RH

c) Thermal shock chamber: range (-50 to 150°c)

d) Rain & Test chamber (IPX3), IEC

e) Dust Test chamber (IPX4, X5, X6), IEL

4) Mechanical Testing Lab:

a) CMM

b) Vision Camera

c) Contour Tracer

d) Thermal image camera

e) UTM Machine

f) Portable Hardness Tester

5) Non-Destructive Test Lab:

a) Ultrasonic testing

b) Magnaflux (Magnetic particle)

c) Fluorescent crack Detector

Conclusion:

In this visit we observed that the various types of instruments, such as

• 3D printing

• Electrical test lab

• Environmental test lab

• Mechanical testing lab

• Non-Destructive test lab

We understood the various manufacturing process of various components ,it is a cluster

hub of various kinds of machines making nano to larger size equipment’s.
