BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Covid 19 is a virus that came around in 2019 but the pandemic only began for Trinidad and
Tobago in 2020. This virus would make you sick but it was not always deadly. 4,387 people
died from covid in Trinidad and Tobago alone. However, the people who actually died from
the virus is approximately 43.62% of people who got covid in Trinidad and Tobago.
However, 6,921,601 people died worldwide. Out of the total cases, below 1% actually died
from covid. The people who survived covid are either still recovering or are recovered. It
affects people physically, financially and socially. (Bing COVID-19 data sources

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

Physically

Since sports were postponed because of the pandemic, athletes are pressured to stay
physically active at home while the pandemic is happening. Another thing that covid caused
was internet addiction. Technology has been adapted in covid to by many more people than
before covid. More than half of United States’ adults have been at risk of addiction. The ways
internet addiction can affect you physically is from the over usage that can lead to arms
stiffening, joint pain, eye strain, back pain, neck pain, headaches, sleeping problems and
more. Another thing covid caused was weight gain from unhealthy eating habits coming from
the disorders caused by excessive use of the internet. (The impact of COVID-19 on sport,

Financially

Jobs of people are lost due to the pandemic that has led to people’s financial stability
declining. So many expenses has to be paid over the pandemic making it difficult for people
to save money. Businesses in industries such as restaurants, out of home entertainment and
travel had a massive decline in money in covid times. Even business that move to online
sources still have a massive decline as people are being careful on what they are spending
their money on. (The pandemic gutted many people financially, but others are doing better
than ever | CNN Business, How has coronavirus changed consumer spending? | World
Economic Forum (weforum.org))

Socially

Due to masks, not the full face of people can be seen while talking. Also the fact that some
people cannot even go outside to see their face at all. They may have to talk online. The full
face is needed to be seen so that people can tell the emotions when people are talking to
further understand. Masks usually make people perceive people’s emotions as negative rather
than positive. Social distancing has led to people being more aware and staying away from
each other resulting in less conversations even with close friends. (The consequences of
COVID-19 on social interactions: an online study on face covering | Scientific Reports

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE:

The objective of this SBA will be to identify how covid has affected people in many ways
and how it has impacted the world.
METHODOLOGY

My colleagues and I collided together to share 44 sampled questionnaires based on how

Covid-19 affected them Financially, Socially and Physically. This method used, was
preparing, distributing and collecting a questionnaire to ask randomly selected students about
how their were effected by what was caused Covid-19. The questionnaires were openly
distributed but didn’t require any mentioning of names, or any other specific personal identify
related questions except their age.
A limit we could not avoid when distributing questionnaires that were answered anonymous
was knowing who did or didn’t answer a questionnaire given, as random persons were given
another's questionnaire to give back to us, we couldn’t track down who did or didn’t answer
one and ask to return it
One main question we focused on was “Were you affected by the Covid-19 disease” 48%
stated yes there were affected by covid-19 whereas 52% stated no. What we extracted from
this 48%: 52% ratio is that, not much individuals were not affected by the disease.

COVID PANDEMIC:

GRAPH 2 - PIE CHART SHOWING HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN

INFECTED BY COVID:
ANALYSIS OF DATA

In the first graph, it was discovered that the majority of approximately 46% were not affected
a lot by the covid pandemic. In the middle, approximately 31% chose that they were
moderately effected by covid. And the smallest group of people, 23%, chose that they were
very effected by the covid pandemic. It can be concluded that a majority of our sample
population were not majorly effected by the covid pandemic.
In the second graph, it shows that a majority of people, 52%, were not infected by the covid
pandemic. However, 48% were infected by covid. It can be concluded that covid had infected
nearly half of our sample population, and more than half were not infected by the covid
pandemic.
