PART I.

INTRODUCTION

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19), took the world by surprise; and, as of early April 2020, the virus
has already claimed more than 80,000 lives and infected more than a million people around the globe.1
To combat the pandemic, most governments strongly enforced social-distancing, area-wide lockdowns
and curfews, and contact-tracing of persons under investigation. To motivate people to take preventive
measures, some heads of states used what may be characterized as the ‘friendlier’ strategies in the form
of infographics, infomercials, and hashtags.2 On top of this, other governments have resorted to rather
extreme tactics, which play on people's fears to regulate behavior. Witness some cases in the Philippines
as examples.

CONTENT

Many people who have lived through the Covid-19 epidemic have witnessed the ethical, legal, and
societal problems that have emerged as a result of the virus' quick global spread. This timely special
issue seeks to highlight a wide range of problems at the nexus of science and society, from a variety of
scholars, in many different domains, in light of what we have discovered thus far. It is intended to be a
mid-stream retrospective. Some of the problems that have emerged are directly related to the virus,
while others have formed as a result of diverse responses to the infection.

The concerns that the pandemic raises are moving targets, just like the virus itself, with variables and
circumstances changing over time, frequently as a result of unprecedented necessity.

State the issue of the problem.

Worldwide, the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is having a significant impact on daily life. The
mental environment of impacted nations is completely altered by isolation, contact limitations, and
economic collapse. The mental health of children and adolescents could be seriously threatened by
these actions. Even while the current crisis may present chances for personal development and family
togetherness, negative aspects may overshadow these advantages. The main issues are anxiety,
isolation from peers, and fewer possibilities for stress management. An higher likelihood of parental
mental illness, domestic violence, and child abuse is another major concern. Particularly for kids and
teenagers who have specific requirements or disadvantages, like impairments, traumatic experiences,
pre-existing mental health issues, migratory backgrounds, or low socioeconomic position.

Cite how did they resolve the problem and discuss the procedure done.
1. Strengthening community health and support systems.

2. Increasing vaccine coverage

3. Strengthening health and testing facilities

4. Supporting a data-driven response

5. Addressing gender-based violence

6. Distributing essential equipment and supplies

7. Prioritizing water, sanitation, and hygiene

8. Keeping our focus on family planning

And answer the following question:

Guided Question:

Do you agree to the process done in resolving the problem or issue, why or why not?

According to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, as soon as the virus spread over the world, false
and even hazardous messages disseminated widely over social media, leaving people perplexed,
misinformed, and ill-advised. "Verified," our program, uses truth to combat false information. We
collaborate with influencers, individuals, media partners, and social media platforms to disseminate
content that supports science, provides solutions, and fosters community. This will be especially
important as we try to increase public trust in the security and effectiveness of upcoming COVID-19
vaccines. We require a universally accessible and reasonably priced "people's vaccine."

PART III. REFLECTION

Cite your reflection and how will you resolve that problem applying what you have learned about
ETHICS.

The SARS-COVID-19 pandemic has had a terrible effect on the entire planet. This is the perfect
time to take stock of what happened, why we reacted the way we did, and consider the lessons
we might apply to future clinical practice as well as to situations that are similar.

The clinical expertise of experts committed to the care of critically ill patients in one of the
nations most impacted by the SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 epidemic is used in this work as an
ethical reflection. The importance of incorporating bioethics into daily practice is suggested,
along with some methods for doing so, in order to facilitate the health professional's ability to
make decisions in situations where resources are limited.

List at least three to five issues and reflection on your chosen problem.

We still face great challenges in control of the epidemic: uncertain initial source of infection, infected
populations widely scattered, complex routs of transmission, populations generally susceptible, high
contagiousness of the virus, and finally vaccines unlikely available in the near future.
