Coolant pump - assembly instructions - repairs

The hexagon head bolt shown in A1 used to be inserted with packing compound for sealing
because it reached into the coolant chamber, see also A2.

A2 Crankcase / thread passage to the coolant chamber

In case of repair it was not always ensured that this hexagon head bolt was cleaned and
inserted with packing compound again when installing the new coolant pump. This led to
alleged leaks in the collant pump.
In the current series engines only hexagon head bolts with a coated thread are used for fas-
tening the coolant pump so that the use of packing compound has become superfluous.
The coolant pumps are no longer available as spare parts.
The following repair kits, with coated hexagon head bolts (7), have been introduced among
others.

In order to use up any remaining stores stocks of coolant pumps, these must be inserted
with the previous screws and packing compound in case of repair.

Tightening specification

z Tightening torque 30 Nm
z Tightening order:
- Hexagon head bolt (1)
- Hexagon head bolt (2)
- Hexagon head bolts (3) in any order

- Arrow:
- Previous hexagon head bolt inserted with packing compound
or
- Use current, coated hexagon head bolt.
