human becoming thought focuses on the
quality of life and human dignity from

it departs from both coventional bio - medical

Parse did not dercribe nursing. However, nurisng is
considered to be a basic science and as such required
theories that are different from other disciplines especially
medicine. It is a form of performing art as practiced in
relationship with person ( individuals, groups, and
communities) in their process of becoming.
The following are set of fundamentals that are essential for
practicing the art of nursing.
knowing and using nursing frameworks and theories;
being available to others;
valuing others as human presence;
respecting differences in view;
owning what you believe and be accountable for your
actions;
moving on to the new and tested knowledge;
connecting with others;
Taking pride in self;
Liking what you do;
Recognizing the moments of joy in the struggles of living;
Appreciating mystery and being open to new discoveries;
Being competent in your chosen area;
Resting and be ginning a new.
Health
Health is form of human becoming. It is structuring meaning, co-creating
rhythmical patterns of relating, and co-transcending with the possibles.
Health is personal commitment. It depends on the valuing of the
individual to prioritize his health.
Health is the "process of becoming, the who that one is."
Person
person is a human being who struggles to achieve their full potential.
Humans are not more than the sum of their parts. Human are complex
beings to be broken down into parts.
People are free to create their own realities.
Humans are multidimensional and present in their past.
Environment
Parse does not use the word environment. She considers
it to limiting. She uses the "word universe.
she explains that humans have a powerful connection
with the universe.
The theory of human becoming is a paradigm shift kind of theory.
It directs attention to the person meanings of health and quality of life and
to their wishes, needs, concerns and preferences for information and care.
It completely empowers a patient or client. This has remarkable impact on
the way nurses practice their profession. There is high regard for the
patient or client that was not seen before. It assumes that they are thinking,
feeling and intelligent individuals.
