Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs)
Frequently Asked Questions
Online learning focuses on interactive learning environments where students can take more
active roles compared to a traditional classroom set-up. Here, students would need to study
without direct supervision and establish open dialogues with instructors and fellow students.
Most of the time, the teacher would act as a facilitator, organizing learning activities that would
engage students rather than promote reliance on lectures and memorization.
Frequently Asked Questions
Students shall receive regular online instruction through Google Classroom. Google Drive and
Google Mail will be utilized for file sharing, and Google Meet/Zoom/Messenger Rooms for video
conferencing and consultation. These platforms can be accessed through computer or mobile
phone as long as the student can connect to the Internet. Subjects shall be organized with
specific class schedules.
Frequently Asked Questions
The most successful online students have the following Internet skills:
Ø Familiarity with web browsers
Ø Familiarity with web-based communication tools (email, social media platforms, discussion
boards, chat rooms, video conferencing, etc.)
Ø Proficiency in the use of productivity tools (word processors, electronic spreadsheets,
presentation software, etc.)
Ø Experience in successful Internet searches using a variety of search engines
Frequently Asked Questions
Synchronous learning or real-time online interaction will be at least 1.5 hours lecture (for every
3-unit course) per week or a maximum of 3 to 4.5 hours per day. Students will engage in class
discussions and interactive activities with peers, and undergo formative and summative
assessments. Students need to log on to their classes as scheduled on the Adviser's Slip. This
is to create and maintain a consistent schedule throughout the semester, and to avoid
procrastination and being overly burdened by learning activities.
Asynchronous learning will also be provided to give time for students to access recorded
presentations, modules, and other educational materials, and finish required tasks on their own
time. Coaching sessions will be provided by faculty members during specific hours to aid the
students while learning asynchronously.
The due dates for school work shall still reflect those in a traditional face-to-face class.
Frequently Asked Questions
A lot of students mistakenly assume that they'll feel isolated from their online classmates. To
their surprise, they find that online courses provide a high degree of personal contact, much like
in face-to-face classes. This is because online courses offer more opportunities for reflection,
in-depth discussion, and interaction than traditional courses. Online learning enhances
communication and interaction in ways that would be challenging in a traditional face-to-face
learning environment. Group online learning activities encourage all students to collaborate
which results in higher learning outcomes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Teachers will be available to respond to student inquiries and questions during specific
schedules of consultation/coaching while students are learning asynchronously. Faculty
members shall also provide mentoring sessions as needed.
