Before you watch:

1. Explore the images with students and ask them to guess what their connection
could be based on the title of the video. Let them guess in pairs or in trios, but do
not give them the answer yet.

While you watch:

2. Play the video once and ask students to check if their guesses were correct.
Answer: Squidward receives an invitation to an event and can take
someone along with him, what can also be referred to as a “plus one” (+1).

3. Go over the sentences with students. Make sure they understand what they
mean before playing the video again. Afterwards, allow them some time to
discuss their answers in pairs.

4. Elicit from students the agreeing and disagreeing they saw in the video. Then
divide the class into two groups. One group will defend fancy food while the other
must defend fast food. Allow some time for preparation and provide internet
access as they might need to research arguments beforehand.
