Speaking test Movers Hang Units 7-9

How to do the test:

● Follow the lesson plan: LP test M HO4 Unit 7-9.pdf
● Each student has up to 7-8 minutes for the test.
Remember to watch the time when you have 5 or 6 students in your class !
● Students can NOT leave the class when they are finished. They will finish the hour in the main room.
● Ask questions of all 3 units to test the students retention.
● Don’t share the screen with the questions and vocabulary.
● After the test, grade the students for each section. Scoring should be between 5-10 for each section.
The 4 language sections should be graded based on the speaking test. The behavior section should
be graded based on their behavior in class during the last 3 units.
5 = Needs Improvement, 6 = OK, 7 = Good, 8 = Very Good, 9 = Excellent, 10 = Perfect
● On page 2, Write detailed feedback about each student and be as honest as possible.
Your feedback should contain:
Students performance during the test, during class, strengths, weaknesses, behavior, your
opinion about the level of the student and a friendly comment to end your feedback with.

ZOOM Breakout Rooms:

- Click “BREAKOUT ROOMS” > Create 1 breakout room > Assign manually > Create.
- Click Assign on the right and select a student > click OPEN ALL ROOMS.
- ALL STUDENTS + TA GO TO THE BREAKOUT ROOM. TEACHER STAYS IN THE MAIN ROOM.
- Teacher invites 1 SS from breakout to main room for the test. SS clicks “JOIN” to accept the invite.
- After the test, Teacher instructs SS to click “JOIN BREAKOUT ROOM” button to send SS back.
On phone/tablet the button is in the top left corner. On laptop the button is at the bottom of the screen.
The host is unable to assign the SS back to the breakout room so the student must click the button.
- The TA can be invited to the main room if Vietnamese assistance is required to help the SS.
- Repeat process for all students. Then, invite everyone back and play games till the end of the lesson.

Jennifer has passed this speaking test well. I can see she came prepared. She can
name most of the vocabulary words from units 7-9 correct. Her pronunciation is
improving and she tries to pay attention to her ending sounds, however, continuous
work is needed on her ending sounds -S, -T, -D, -X example: about, slept, animals,
closes, arrives, ride, taxi. Few words she wasn’t able to name were: ferry,
marshmallows, chilly. When it came to answering to questions, Jennifer tried to form
her sentences correct. Most of the sentences were structured grammatically correct.
Well done! She even remembered the past forms of most of the verbs. We enjoy
Jennifer’s energy and sense of humor. I would like Jennifer to be a little bit more active
and to raise her hand more often as it is important to participate in class activities. I am
happy to see Jennifer’s results and will be happy to help her improve even more.

Nhi was able to name the vocabulary words of units 7-9 with some assistance. Her
pronunciation was good however continuous work is needed with her final sounds -X, -
D, -S, -T with words like six, ride, it, opens, aquarium, chilly. She managed to answer
questions well, however, Nhi needs to review the Past simple tense with irregular
verbs and to remember to use -s to verbs take/open/leave. Nhi’s mic was not strong so
her volume was a bit low and lagging. Nhi is a sweet and friendly student. I would like
her to become more confident in herself as she can stay quiet and prefer the rest to
answer. Over all, I am happy to have Nhi in my class and hope to see her progress
more.

Nhi cần ôn lại các động từ bất quy tắc của thì quá khứ đơn và nhớ dùng -s với các
động từ take/open/leave. Mic của Nhi không được tốt nên âm lượng có phần hơi nhỏ
và lag. Nhi là một học sinh dễ thương và thân thiện. Cô muốn bé trở nên tự tin hơn
vào bản thân vì bé thường giữ im lặng và thích để những học sinh còn lại trả lời. Nhìn
Nhi chung, cô rất vui khi có Nhi trong lớp và mong được thấy bé tiến bộ hơn nữa.

Sam has been joining class on time and is becoming more active. I enjoy seeing her
participate in class discussions and raising her hand. I hope to see more of this in
class. Sam was able to name most of the vocabulary words from units 7-9 by herself.
Sam Her pronunciation is becoming clearer and she tries to pay attention to her ending
 sounds. When/If she rushes some words don’t come out as clearer and correct as she
wants, so she needs to be reminded not to rush. Some words she couldn’t name were:
interesting, ferry, boiling, exciting. Continuous work is needed on her ending sounds -S
and -D. Sam can answer to questions in full sentences. Well done! However, some
revision is still needed on her grammar, particularly with past simple tense irregular
verbs and If with first conditionals as well as telling the approximate time “it takes
about __ minutes”. We are always here to assist and guide her if she needs any help. I
appreciate Sam work and hope to see more attention and effort from her..

Lucy is an adorable member of our class. I can see lots of improvements in her
English. She has named most of the vocabulary words from units 7-9. Well done.
When it came to answering questions, Lucy managed to answer most of the
sentences in full however, continuous revision will be needed with her grammar. Her
pronunciation is improving and I like that she self-corrects. She still needs to work on
her final sounds -n, -s, -v, -l in words like school, ferry, ride, exciting, leave, train,
opens, leaves. As for sentence structures, she answered to Q1 “what time does the
train leave?” with “it’s 7 o’clock” instead of “the train leaves at 7 o’clock”. Lucy will
need to practice the past simple tense questions a bit more as she struggled to use
irregular verbs. Other than that, Lucy is a joy to have in class and I can’t wait to see
her progress more.

Khang is a funny and cheerful student. We all enjoy his sense of humor. I can see he
tried his best on this speaking test. He was able to name most of the vocabulary words
from units 7-9. Khang’s pronunciation is improving with most sounds however he does
Khang need to practice his ending sound -S, particularly with plural nouns and third person
 singular nouns. Khang needs to work on his final sounds -c, -s, -ee, th-, -d: yard, this,
the, office, take, see, campsite. When it came to answering questions, he tried to form
the sentences correctly. There were few grammatical errors that I would like Khang to
review and keep in mind: to use past tense form of verbs when asked “what did he/she
do?” and use IF for first conditional, as well as to add -s to verbs like “opens, takes” for
third person pronouns. I appreciate Khang’s attention to details; he has become more
active and attentive in class. I hope to continue seeing Khang this way!

to answering questions, Chi tried her best to answer most of the sentences in full and
with good grammar. However, there are few grammar points I would like Chi to review:
she needs to add -s to verbs like “opens, takes, leaves” for third person pronouns,
practice the past simple tense with irregular verbs and to use IF for third conditional
sentences. Her pronunciation is becoming clearer and better. If she mispronounces a
word and is corrected, she will take note and memorize the correct pronunciation.
Some words that had slipped her mind were: explore a cave and cool. She is among
the first to join class on time and doesn’t shy away when it’s time to answer questions!
Chi is a joy to have in class and I can’t wait to see her progress more.
