MWA1 Reflection

The purpose of my memoir is to give the reader a lesson about never being afraid to

revisit the past because you can learn something about yourself. I achieved this message through

the end of my memoir as I talked about how replaying a game in childhood reassured me about

growing up and led me to decide what I wanted to do in the future. The audience of my piece is

friends and family which caused me to make a storybook. Doing the storybook allows for the

story to be more approachable to read and including pictures helps the audience understand the

story better. My impression of the technology I used was that it was helpful. With Sway Office I

was able to embed pictures, text, and audio all in one which means I was able to achieve the

multimodal aspect of the project easily. I also used images from iStock which made my project

easier as I did not have to cite many images since they are already included in the images

themselves. To represent logos, I had to look up the trailer of Skylanders on YouTube so that I

could describe my subject accurately in my memoir. Furthermore, adding images in the

storybook helps my audience emotionally connect with the story better as the pictures connect

with the text. One challenge that I faced with technology was putting some of the pictures from

iStock into the project as sometimes the file type was not accepted. I solved this as I learned that

if I pressed the image, then dragged it into the website instead of just copying and pasting, it

would work. Another challenge I experienced was that I could not indent my text on Sway

Office, and I solved it by searching how much spaces were in a tab and doing it manually. On the

other hand, the easiest part was adding audio as I could record it there and it would already paste
it in my project. Some other things I did in my project were that I screenshotted images from the

trailer and did not just use stock images, so I cited them at the end of the memoir.
