An independent expert evaluation of 2007-2013 funding found that Cohesion Policy investments had
positive, tangible results ranging from job creation, a positive impact on regional disparities and an
increase in GDP.

Every region and country in the EU benefits from Cohesion Policy, via the direct effects of the investments and/or
the indirect effects like increased trade.

COHESION POLICY IN 2017-2013: CONCRETE RESULTS FOR SLOVENIA

Between 2007 and 2013, support from the European Regional Development
Fund and the Cohesion Fund amounted to EUR 3.3 billion in Slovenia.
Investments were mainly made in the areas of:

 Research and Innovation


 Environment
 Transport infrastructure.

ENVIRONMENT & ENERGY Key achievements of


Cohesion Policy
An additional 290 000 people connected to water investments in
supply, 194 000 people connected to new or
upgraded wastewater treatment facilities. SLOVENIA

172 MW added to the overall energy capacity from


renewables.

Greenhouse emissions reduced by 56 000 tonnes TRANSPORT


and energy saving amounted to 69 GWh
60 km of new roads constructed
90 km of railroad reconstructed
