The modern age is the age of Information Technology. The computer technology has importance in
every field of life. With the help of IT, all departments of life and organization are performing their
functions efficiently & perfectly. Computers have made a significant impact on our society. Today
they are an essential part of every person’s life. It is difficult to imagine our lives without a computer
being involved. Electronic computers have been around for a relatively short period of time.
At home, computers can help us to purchase different things via Internet. We can check our bank
balance and pay different utility bills online. Computers are used in making a telephone call, typing a
letter and driving a car, cooking food in a microwave oven, and so on. Computers are found in
offices, banks, schools, businesses and in the every field. They are used in banks for record keeping
and maintaining accounts of customers. Banking and commerce could not have existed on a large
scale without use of computers. Computers are widely used in banks for calculation purpose. The
banks provide ATM card facility to the customer for draw money from any ATM Machine, it has
been possible due to the computerized system.
Computers have also revolutionized manufacturing processes. They are used to automate processes
in factories. The use of computers in factories has increased productivity and quality of products.
Their use has also reduced production costs. Computers are used to making the statements, check and
balance of employee salaries in factories.
In accounting and finance activities, managers are using computer system to estimate revenues and
other business activities, find out the best sources and uses of funds, manage cash and other financial
resources, analyze investments and perform different reviews to ensure that the organization is going
well and that all financial reports and documents are accurate and up-to-date. As computers can do
jobs better and more efficiently, they are replacing workers in offices, businesses and in factories.
Therefore, many people see computers as a threat to their jobs. However, the use of computers
creates many more new jobs relating to design, manufacturing, installation and maintenance of
computer hardware and software. Different changes have also taken place through the force of
interactive technology, web-cams, video conferencing etc. Now, with the help of the Internet and
web-cams a video conference can be set up in which everybody can take part in the meeting without
leaving their physical offices.
Computers are used in every field of life. They are used in homes, business, educational institutions,
research organizations, and government offices. They are used for a variety of purposes. They are
used as typewrites, calculators, accounting systems, record keepers, data processors and even as
telecommunication systems. Following are some examples of uses of computers:

With the arrival of computers into education and studies, the standard and level of education have
increased. Students are getting benefit from the computer either in school/colleges or even at
home.
In fact, without computers, learning is limited within the walls of schools. The best way to make
education accessible to everyone is through computers.
It is true that many brilliant students almost every day spend time on the computer for about 1 to 3
hours to get knowledge of different subjects. Before the introduction of computers, acquiring the
correct information was a kind of challenge for the learners. But now, not only access but also
storing a large amount of information in computer storage devices.
But ever since computers and the Internet have come into this new era. We do not have to wait long
to perceive any information. Because through the computer and the Internet, one can increase their
wisdom in just a few seconds by searching on search engines like Google.com, Bing.com, etc.
Also, students need to complete their assignments and projects given by their tutor. Such needs can
be fulfilled on computers by using the Internet. Many articles, blogs, and PPT related to all topics are
available via computers that help students complete their tasks.
Computer technology has reached the dream of distance learning in reality. Education is no longer
limited to the classrooms. Physically far-off spots have been brought closer because of the
availability of the Internet. So even if students and teachers are long-distance, they can interact very
well face to face on the computer.
Not only students, even professional workers, researchers, tutors, retirees, and many more can benefit
from online education. E-learning with the combination of computers and the Internet is affordable
and straightforward, whether it’s vocational training to hone your communication and management
skills or a college student looking to learn a foreign language.
Digital learning has also taken place, meaning that many online courses are possible. So here is
another way to get insight and educating ourselves online on every desire topic.
Image search technology is another unique tool used to find the images if you cannot understand the
picture or simply find out the information in the image.
Home
The presence of computers at home is very beneficial, especially in this information era. Computers
have their importance and versatile use in the workplace, schools, and colleges for various purposes.
However, the use of personal computers at home cannot be underestimated.
Both parents and children can take benefit from a personal computer at home in numerous ways.

One can use computers for communication and fun using email, chat, face-to-face meeting, gaming,
instant messaging, and social media. Computers storage devices make it easy to store and maintain
multiple videos or audios for educational or entertainment purposes and facilitate valuable
information.
Numerous work tools and software facilitate productivity, such as spreadsheets, PPT, word
processors, budgeting, video or audio editing software, and accounting. All this thing is precious to
learn for both children and grown-ups at home.
The housing member can earn money online on the computer if they have legit skills, talent, and
working experience on platforms like freelancers, fiver, etc.
The computer is an infinite source of entertainment and knowledge that will be immensely helpful
for every house member. Also, you can set a password on the personal computer to prevent
unauthorized access.
Banking Sector
With the increase in the use of computers for numerous purposes in financial systems like the bank,
work speed and accuracy have increased. Computer systems assist bank employees in managing and
running more efficiently and effectively.
The computer handles all certain transactions and stores customer information for quick execution. It
help staff to keep track of all real-time transactions. When customers make deposits and withdrawals,
check cash, open checking accounts or home loan credit applications, computer stores, and controls
all the information once the customer or bank employee enters it into the system.
You can perform any online transaction by logging in with a user login ID and password, a secure
transaction. In banks, the various records are stored in electronic form like customer details,
transaction history, etc., for secure transactions.
Different works such as transmission records, credit, and debit card applications, to provide
checkbooks, checking, savings, or certificate of deposit accounts, are assigned with different
computers. All these are impossible without the help of computers.
Computers help both the bank and the bank’s customers to save time and money. Without computers,
it would be tough for banking institutions to provide good customer service. Thus, Computer systems
help banks to achieve their goals and profits.
Do You Know – ATM(Automated Teller Machine) is a computing machine used to withdraw money
at any time, which also saves time.

Computers are being used a lot for entertainment purposes because first its’ has many entertaining
features that television doesn’t have and the functions have been progressively improving.
Entertainments like listening to music, watching series and movies, playing video games, etc., are
extended by the computer. And one can enjoy this daily on the PC.
It made it possible for everyone to play desired games and consoles like PlayStation and X-Box, as
well as to interact with people within the game using the Internet. Moreover, one can listen to the
interview and podcasts of our inspirational people.
The animation movies of cartoons, high-quality graphics of video games, and music composing are
possible due to computer technology progress. It isn’t likely to entertain in this way without a
computer. VR (Virtual Reality) is the latest way of gaming with exceptional experience and
enjoyment.
There are many live events where extensive management handles the audiences and ensures that
everything is going well. In such scenarios, significant support is done by computers to control or
manage the lights and sound systems like speakers and mics. All this stuff can easily adjust by
computers.
Medical Hospitals
The computer plays a significant role in hospitals. It is difficult to find medical hospitals that do not
use computers. As computer technology is changing and innovating, computers became increasingly
common in different parts of medical facilities.
Computers are used everywhere, from patient sides, medical carts, nursing, laboratories, including
operating rooms. The combination of computers and the Internet can bring a digital transformation in
the healthcare industry.
In hospitals, all medical information and details like registration of patient, name, date of birth,
contact phone number, and various unique IDs into the database have been digitized. That means all
details have been recorded in electronic form.
It is exactly the opposite of the traditional way as they were used to store many records in the books,
which was time-consuming. This digitization of records saves a lot of time for all patients, nurses,
doctors, etc.
To treat various medical conditions, like planning and controlling different medical equipment
procedures moreover robotic computers are there to help doctors during operations. 3D printers can
print organs and implants, so doctors can cure and save many people’s lives.

plays a vital role in those cases.
Today, it is difficult to imagine medical fields without using computer technologies because they
have become an integral part of all kinds of medical areas. The computers will be more advance in a
future generation of computers.
Business and Marketing

In this digitally growing world, computers in businesses and industries are also developing day by
day. With a combination of computer and Internet connectivity, it is effortless to drive our business
throughout the world so that customers can make an online payment across the globe.
Due to computer machines in industries have become automated, it is now much easier to produce
vast numbers of products in less time. Business services become faster and more comfortable with
computer technology. There are practically no errors in an automated system. However, if any error
occurs, it is mainly human error.
The qualities like computerizing or preparing the bills, preparing a list of items in stores, calculation,
fast functioning, reliable machine, keeping data securely, ability to analyze data, all these features
have made computers very successful and helpful in the business sector.
Nowadays, it has become essential to have a computer system to advertise or market the business.
One can promote their business advertisements over the world by working on the computer. The
powerful online marketing tools like email, business websites, social media sites, online promotion,
etc., are made possible on a personal computer.
With the help of a computer, most of the work has been automated, from booking tickets to
producing luxury cars. Companies are becoming more independent on computers to improve their
efficiency and service.
Various businesses have been set up on the Internet. Hence, there is no need to open business offices
in every city, and having one centralized inventory can make business easier. This eliminates the
need for human strength, which saves salary expenses.
Computer innovation’s applicability has intensified competition between the businesses, e.g.,
customers can now benefit from 24 × 7 support and fast delivery option. That’s why a business
organization must recognize the customer needs and marketing skills and thank computer technology
to scale up their growth.
Science and Research
The computer is one of the most incredible innovations of science and research. Computers have
changed the ways that scientific research is compiled and analyzed.

For conducting any experiment, there will be requirements for equipment. And the most basic
equipment is computers and software. With computers, scientists can store infinite information from
different studies and research; by reviewing that information, they can operate or experiment.
Unique computer programs and model assists them to demonstrate future. This skill helps predict
weather patterns, simulating how engineered products can be developed in the field, indicating the
rate of beach erosion, predicting the absorption rate of medicines in the body, etc.

Uses of computers are done in all the government departments in their daily work life for different
purposes like booking tickets in railway departments, registering cases in police stations, controlling
traffic signals, etc., to complete the tasks quickly and efficiently.
Government organizations rely on computer and Internet technologies to react to thousands of

requests from residents quickly. Computers and online systems allow different government
authorities to fulfill various requests from businesses and other organizations immediately.
State departments use computers to distribute salaries, grants, scholarships, medicare to the
respective citizens of the society.
The government regularly hires computer administrators to keep various types of records. Most of
these records are kept in large databases, including a person’s gender, age, address, UID, phone
number, and other essential matters.
E-mail, messages, chat, computer portals for online service are just some of the technologies that
government areas have incorporated into their day-to-day lives.
Defense and Security
There are important uses of computers in the defense sector since the origin. But today, its meaning
has completely changed; the strength of defense has increased a lot. Large missiles, nuclear weapons,
satellites, UAVs, air-crafts, missiles can be controlled with just one command through a computer.

Computers have also been used to find the exact location of the enemy, incoming missiles, battle
management systems, logistics, tank control, and target enemy forces.
The soldiers also use computers for secure communication, and thanks to this, the internet started.
But that is not the only utility of computers; for example, in aviation to manage airplanes and make
military strategies.
The increase in computer technology growth helps the country secure the people and property of the
nation more effectively against illegal activities and wars.
