Adverbs of frequency

Adverbs of frequency say how often an activity happens

Ex. Always (100%)


He is always hungry when he wakes up.
Usually (90%)
He is usually a nice guy; he must be having a bad day.
Often (70%)
The boy often sleeps late on Saturdays.
Sometimes (50%)
My cousin sometimes doesn’t answer his phone.
Seldom (10%)
The tired mother seldom goes out on the weekend.
Never (0%)
I have never traveled to Chile.

The verb to be comes before adverbs of frequency


(am, is, are, was, were)
Ex. He is always hungry when he wakes up.

The main verbs comes after adverbs of frequency


(eat, do, drink, run, etc.)
Ex. The boy often sleeps late on Saturdays.

For modal verbs, adverbs of frequency come


After these kinds of verbs and before the main verb
Modal verbs include can, will, should, might, may, etc.
Ex. They can often find time to go running together.
