II. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The rise of electronic commerce has exerted a substantial influence on the retail industry,
both on a worldwide scale and within the context of the Philippines. E-commerce sales in
the Philippines experienced a notable growth rate of 56% in the year 2021, resulting in a
total sales value of $17.4 billion. The expansion has been propelled by various variables,
such as the escalating accessibility of high-speed internet, the surging prevalence of mobile
devices, and the convenience associated with online purchasing.
The implementation of electronic commerce has yielded both positive and negative
consequences for traditional retail enterprises. E-commerce provides new opportunities for
enterprises to expand their market reach and engage in online sales. Conversely, the advent
of e-commerce has resulted in the disruption of traditional retail enterprises, as consumers
progressively exhibit a preference for online shopping.
Research Questions:
The present study will employ a quantitative research methodology. The data will be
obtained by conducting a survey targeting consumers residing in Diffun, Quirino. The poll
will inquire about the shopping behaviors of customers, their perspectives on electronic
commerce, and their evaluations of traditional retail enterprises.

Analysis:
The data obtained from the survey will be subjected to analysis employing statistical
methodologies. The findings derived from the analysis will be utilized to address the
research inquiries and formulate recommendations for conventional retail enterprises in
Diffun, Quirino.

Significance:
This research study aims to enhance the understanding of the effects of e-commerce on
traditional retail enterprises in the Philippines. The implications of the research will prove
valuable for traditional retail enterprises operating in Diffun, Quirino, as well as other rural
areas within the Philippines.
