the question, is it ethical to show or have pictures of the Falling Man to the public? Basically, the
‘Falling Man’ refers to pictures of people during the 9/11 terrorist attack that decided to jump out
of the twin towers as it was on fire, or in other words, death by suicide. These photos were taken
by photographers on the scene of the 9/11 attack. In the article, it stated that even though there
were many photos from that day that were very unsettling, the ‘Falling Man’ was the most
unsettling. Many people said that releasing those photos to the public was an invasion of privacy
to those who lost their lives from jumping out of the building. Others think it is important to
understand what happened that day and that the photos help us to remember those who died and
After reading this article, I learned that these photos were very controversial, which I did
not know before. I was familiar with the photos, but I had no idea some people thought it was an
invasion of privacy. My opinion on this topic is that I think the photos should be able to be
shared with the public to truly show what happened that day and to explain the tragedy. Pictures
speak louder than words most of the time, therefore I do not think these photos are invading
people's privacy or dignity, I think it is explaining how awful 9/11 was and it is showing the
