Good morning teacher and classmates today I going to talk about my person who has pushed

boundaries. This is Aron Ralston, He is an American mountaineer, mechanical engineer, and

motivational speaker. He known for surviving a canyoneering accident by cutting off part of his
right arm.

Aron is 48 years old now and was 28 when he acquired his disability.

in May 2003 while descending canyons in Utah. He was forced to amputate his right arm with
a dull "utility" knife in order to free himself, after his forearm became trapped by a rock. In
2003, while he was on a hiking trip in Blue John Canyon a rock dislodged, crushing his right
arm and trapping him against the canyon wall. After five days trying to lift and break the rock,
the dehydrated and delirious Ralston set out to amputate the trapped limb in order to escape.
Ralston suffered from discrimination after the accident. He overcame his amputation and the
discrimination he faced with therapies with a psychologist. Later he began to write his book
called “Between a Rock and a Hard Place” and years later he obtained his first film called 127
Hours.

His harrowing near-death experience brought a new perspective when facing other challenges,
including depression, divorce and the death of his father. Ralston’s shared the importance of
choosing to see the positives in different situations all over the globe, both in-person and then
virtually throughout the pandemic.
