ART APPRECIATION: CREATIVITY, IMAGINATION, AND EXPRESSION
ART APPRECIATION IS A WAY OF LIFE JEAN – PAUL SATRE, a famous French Philosopher of the 20th Century. Describe the role of art as a creative work that depicts the world in a completely different light and perspective, and the source is due to human person. THE ROLE OF CREATIVITY IN ART MAKING * CREATIVITY – requires thinking outside the box. It is often used to solve problems that have never occurred before, conflate and style, and simply make life a more unique and enjoyable expression. In art, creativity is what sets apart one artwork from another. We say something is done creatively when we have not yet seen anything like or when it is out of the ordinary. *IMAGINATION – art is a product of imagination GERMAN PHYSICIST ALBERT EINSTEIN who had made significant and major contributions in science and humanity demonstrated that knowledge is actually derived from imagination. He emphasized this idea through his words: "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will to know and understand. *EXPRESSION – art is an expression ROBIN GEORGE COLLING WOOD, an English philosopher who is best known for his work in aesthetics, explicated in his publication the principle of art (1938) that what an artist does to an emotion is not to induce it, but express it. WAYS OF EXPRESSION • Visual arts - the visual arts are art forms that create works that are primarily visual in nature, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, film making and architecture. • Film -also called a movie or a motion picture, is a series of still photographs on film projected onto a screen using light in rapid succession. • Performance Art -performance art is an artwork or art exhibition created through actions executed by the artist or other participants. • Poetry Performance -is a type of poetry that is performed for an audience. • Architecture -is the art and science of designing buildings and other physical structures. • Dance -is a form of creative expression through physical movement that includes rhythmic movements that accompany music. • Literary Art -is something in the form of writing or stories that have artistic and cultural value that displays the beauty of speech and language to convey certain meanings • Theater Art -is a collaborative art form which combines words, voice, movement and visual elements to express meaning • Applied Art -is any form of art created with a specific practical purpose in mind.
