CERTIFICATE OF STRUCTURAL STABILITY

This is to certify the structural stability of the Six-meter (6-m.) Bi-pod pole tower (**Note:
Measured from the finished elevation up to the highest pole mounting frame), structural connection
between the Bi-pod pole tower and the building framing through post constructed pedestal and
concrete anchorage.

Structural appraisal involves site visit and/or visual inspection to ensure that the added structures by
Globe Telecoms Network Inc. have no visual damage that might affect its longevity and its users. Also, the
location of the said additions was identified to measure the “As-built” structural elements as well as the
existing concrete elements of the structure directly affected by the added loadings for structural investigation
purposes.

Estimation or calculation needed to produce this output are all based on the standard and code
mandated by the law and by the profession of Civil Engineering in the Philippines. Here lies the references
used for the analysis extracted from the National Structural code of the Philippines 2015 (NSCP2015,
SEVENTH EDITION, VOLUME I):

• American Concrete Standard (ACI-318M)

For anchorage through concrete elements.
• American Institute for Steel Construction (AISC360-16)
For steel adequacy checking under different mode of failures.
• American National Standard Institute (ANSI EIA/TIA-222-H-2017)
For Wind Analysis procedure for Tower structures.

Based on the results of the provided structural stability checking, the Bi-pod pole tower setup is adequate
for its intended use. The connection of the said structure to the existing concrete framed building is deemed
safe as it is analyzed within the most conservative approach due to detail/data insufficiency. Moreover, no
load combination that is checked separately/iterated throughout different mode of failure that is represented
by utilization ratio, for anchorage through concrete element exceeded the maximum utilization ratio of 100%.
Thus, different base supports are adequate for its intended use.
However, additional loadings due to alteration of the structure and improper usage outside the
jurisdiction of the code/s stated above are beyond the scope and responsibility of the undersigned. Moreover,
poor workmanship, modification, and construction are beyond the jurisdiction of the engineer involved with
the assessment of the structural stability of the existing building and outsidethe scope of this report.

Note: This structural investigation report shall not be construed as part of the construction
documents. This is prepared for information purposes only. This report contains the results of
the investigation into the structure.

I. INTRODUCTION
This report covers the structural investigation analysis for the elements of a post-

constructed Six-meter (6-m.) Bi-pod pole tower setup (Measured from the roof deck floor

level up to the upper most pole mounting frame) carrying antennas/equipment necessary

for telecommunication use. The whole post constructed/installed structure tower is

connected to the existing concrete framed building through pedestal, anchor bolts, and base

plates. The main pole is assumed to be fixedly connected; thus, it resists axial forces and

rotation for all possible plains and axes. The strut supports are assumed to be pin connected

as the purpose of this said element is to resist horizontal forces such as earthquakes and

wind loadings.

The structural steel framing setup is measured in actual and was found out that it was

confirming with the standard section properties of ASTM (American Society for Testing

and Materials). The reinforced concrete pedestal is measured in actual as well, though we

cannot determine the structural design of the concrete pedestal, geometrical dimension of

the concrete pedestal was obtained through actual measurements and analyzed

conservatively.

The Bi-pod pole tower is located at an accessible roof deck for a suggested feasible

height clearance avoiding blockages reaching further coverage. The self-weight of

equipment inclinedly attached, appurtenances, and other attachments that are not part of

the main framing system of the steel structure are extracted from the manufacturer’s

provided mechanical property manual.

For the performance of the analysis, the dimension of the concerned structural

members is measured upon the day of inspection and made sure that there are no early

indications of failure such as hairline cracking for concrete elements, improper weld of two

adjoining steel members, and heavily corroded steel members.

For the computation of dead-load due to self-weight of the attached equipment,

extracted mechanical data from the manufacturer’s manual was used and is converted into

desired units and load of transfer going through the main framing system of the floor

mounted setup.

For the computation of lateral load, Wind load, directional procedure of ANSI/TIA-

222-H (2017) was used because of having commentaries, and explanations for the

procedural approaches for wind loadings that are more specific, descriptive, and updated

for the ANSI/TIA-222-H-2017 than our local code, thus, combination of the two are

justified. The said governing codes and procedural approaches are manually deciphered by

the engineer in-charge of this analysis and was computed through the help of Microsoft

office (excel) software. Formulas used, and criteria for judgement will be discussed further

in this report. Also, it is stated in our local code that for tower structures, it is not prohibited

to use other references through which our code referred to ANSI/TIA-222. However,

parameters that are provided and more suited for our geographical location were obtained

from our local code that is NSCP 2015.

AISC360-16 (LRFD METHOD) was used as method of adequacy checking for the

steel members for failures such as slenderness checking, compression failure, tension

failure, bending, torsional, and combination of each failure.

AISI-16 (LRFD METHOD) was used as method of adequacy checking for the cold

formed steel members for failures such as slenderness checking, compression failure,

tension failure, bending, torsional, and combination of each failure.

From STAAD pro connect edition v22 update 6, the said design checking was

performed as well as extraction of base support loadings due to different load combination.

This reaction is necessary to provide checking for adequacy for other design elements

considering different possibilities.

ACI318-19M was used as method of adequacy of checking for concerned concrete

elements such as concrete breakout, concrete side face breakout, concrete edge breakout;

as well as for the anchor bolts, whether it can carry out tension failure, anchor pull out,

shear failure, and pry-out. Finite element analysis was performed through structural

software, HILTI PROFIS ENGINGEERING, for checking of weld adequacy, stiffener

plate checking, and base plate adequacy checks.

The aim of the report was to provide adequate theoretical justification to ensure

that the added structure is safe for its intended usage, ensuring the safety of its users, and

the vicinity around the existing structure.

Thus, provided analysis vastly considers the estimated reaction due to possible loadings

due to different factors. It may be caused by the wind forces, self-weight, or combination

of such said forces. All assumptions and factors used for the computation of said forces are

extracted from the National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP 2015, volume 7)

and other references that is bounded by the said code.To fulfil the objective, step by step

procedure in chronological order are carried out:

1. Inspection and gathering of data.

2. Computer Aided Design (CAD) for layout

3. Load computation with the aid of Microsoft office software

4. Structural Aided analysis of the framing and recommendation

II. INPUTS

On this part of the report, the inputs such as code-based parameters, engineering

judgement or computation, would be discussed and certify with the assurance and justification

that each structural member would or would not meet the desired requirements. Regarding the

structural steel members, Load and Resistance Factor Design (AISC LRFD) was deemed

efficient and up to date as a method of design adequacy checking as it provides more adequacy

checking than Allowable stress design (ASD) based on the design software use for the base

plates and concrete pedestal (HILTI PROFIS ENGINEERING).

III. OUTPUTS

In this part of the analysis report, values obtained from running the analysis from
Staad Pro connect edition 6 V22, would be provided and indication whether each
concerned structural steel framing element would be adequate for its intended purpose.
Loads combination, consideration for base support, resisting factor such as releases for
end supports of each steel element, would also be shown for the reader to check the
correctness of the analysis. Aside from providing adequacy checks, Staad Pro connect
edition 6 V22 provided the base reaction of the concerned Bi-pod pole tower setup and
is imported to another structural software for design checking of the base support
element such as base plate, anchor bolts, base plate, stiffener plate, and other adequacy
checking for concrete previously mention (HILTI PROFIS ENGINEER). The
purpose of the multiplier is to transpose the sign convention to change the direction of
the loading reaction.

Figure 5. Shown above is the three-dimensional axis for modeling in STAAD PRO connect
V6. This is important to show the face/s of the whole structure.

Figure 6. Shown above is the three-dimensional (3d) orientation used for HILTI Profis.

1.6 Warnings
• The anchor design methods in PROFIS Engineering require rigid anchor plates as per current regulations (ETAG 001/Annex C, EOTA TR029,
etc.). This means load re-distribution on the anchors due to elastic deformations of the anchor plate are not considered - the anchor plate is
assumed to be sufficiently stiff, in order not to be deformed when subjected to the design loading. PROFIS Engineering calculates the minimum
required anchor plate thickness with CBFEM to limit the stress of the anchor plate based on the assumptions explained above. The proof if the
rigid base plate assumption is valid is not carried out by PROFIS Engineering. Input data and results must be checked for agreement with the
existing conditions and for plausibility!
• Condition A applies where the potential concrete failure surfaces are crossed by supplementary reinforcement proportioned to tie the potential
concrete failure prism into the structural member. Condition B applies where such supplementary reinforcement is not provided, or where pullout
or pryout strength governs.
• Design Strengths of adhesive anchor systems are influenced by the cleaning method. Refer to the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE given in the
Evaluation Service Report for cleaning and installation instructions.
• For additional information about ACI 318 strength design provisions, please go to https://submittals.us.hilti.com/PROFISAnchorDesignGuide/
• Installation of Hilti adhesive anchor systems shall be performed by personnel trained to install Hilti adhesive anchors. Reference ACI 318-19,
Section 26.7.
• The anchor design methods in PROFIS Engineering require rigid anchor plates, as per current regulations (AS 5216:2021, ETAG 001/Annex C,
EOTA TR029 etc.). This means that the anchor plate should be sufficiently rigid to prevent load re-distribution to the anchors due to elastic/plastic
displacements. The user accepts that the anchor plate is considered close to rigid by engineering judgment."

2.8 Warnings
● By using the CBFEM calculation functionality of PROFIS Engineering you may act outside the applicable design codes and your specified
anchor plate may not behave rigid. Please, validate the results with a professional designer and/or structural engineer to ensure suitability and
adequacy for your specific jurisdiction and project requirements.
● The anchor is modeled considering stiffness values determined from load displacement curves tested in an independent laboratory. Please
note that no simple replacement of the anchor is possible as the anchor stiffness has a major impact on the load distribution results.

Input data and results must be checked for conformity with the existing conditions and for plausibility!

IV. DISCUSSION OF THE RESULTS

The used of utilization ratio is to compare the actual designed computation to the criteria bind by the code,

when the value for utilization ratio for different mode of failure/s reaches 1.00 that signifies that the designed

actual computation are already at 100% designed capacity of the material that was examined. It is safe to assume

that the utilization ratio should not be equal to or greater than the obtained design capacity for a certain design

criterion. During the design stage it is advisable to have less than or equal to 10% of utilization ratio for the strength

capacity of anchor bolts. This consideration is based on the judgement of the designer. However, since the structure

is already built, the analysis is performed after the tower is designed, based on pages. 29-65, it exceeds the usual

10% utilization rate, but it is still safe as it is below the safe value as stated. This is considered safe as we

conservatively analyzed the concrete pedestal through the criteria of Condition B for provisions of ACI 318-14

(Chapter 17 – ANCHORING TO CONCRETE) wherein it is stated in this conditional analysis that “where

supplementary reinforcement is not present, and for pullout or pry out strength. Also, there is a safety factor of

0.70 (Multiplier for the design capacity) for shear and tension loads when considering the said condition.

As shown from the given data from pages. 28, the Prefabricated steel members were analyzed to resist

axial failure, torsional failure, and slenderness ratio adequacy throughout carrying different load cases/load

combination inputs. The maximum slenderness ratio for compression members is at 200 and 300 for tension

members. The governing mode of failure would be provided and written as “Ref:” along with the governing

equation for mode of failure. The word “ratio: “indicates the design checking ratio for a particular governing mode

of failure for a particular steel member. “Track 2” on page. 21 indicates that LRFD method are used.

Based on the results, the structure is deemed SAFE, AND ADEQUATE to carry out the loads imposed

on it and would not post danger to the users of the building for its original intended purpose.
