BASIC AUDIOMETRY

PTA
SPEECH AUDIOMETRY
Interpretation:
1. Degree of Hearing/ Hearing Loss SRT
2. Type of hearing loss - Spondees
3. Configuration - Give 3 words and ask to REPEAT
- Do modified Hughson Westlake
o 0-1 correct words: up 5
o 2-3 correct words: down 10

SRT Interpretation
SAT: should be within 2-3 dB of PTA
SRT: should be within 8dB (8-12dB) of the PTA

- PB words
- Give 25 words and ask to repeat
MASKING - 4% for every correctly repeated word

normal
- For thresholds 65 and above, ART may be
elevated or absent
