Chapter 6 Troubleshooting
6.1 Introduction
This troubleshooting describes the error monitoring and error recovery processing of the analysis
instruments (analyzer and sampler) on the XN-1000/2000 software specifications. The errors are
categorized based on the basic concept in the next section, and error recovery processing is
described.
6.2 Basic Concept on Error Processing

The basic concept on XN-1000/2000 error processing is as follows.
Errors are classified into 2 categories: “Hardware Error” and “Analysis Error”
Hardware error is an error which occurring by the instrument status such as

Analysis error is an error related to result data. This error affects the analysis

2. On Manual Analysis, the analysis channels which are not affected by errors can be analyzed by
limiting the discrete even though the error occurs. However, because Sampler Analysis follows
“work list setting “, it cannot be analyzed by Sampler Analysis.

6.3 Error Recovery Processing on Sampler Analysis
The error recovery processing on Sampler Analysis of XN-1000/2000 is as follows:
6.3.1 Error Recovery processing to be Common to Single Model and Twin Model
Recovery processing on an error occurrence while analyzing by Single Model and/or Twin Model is
classified into “Sampler Analysis continue”, “Sampler Analysis suspend” and “Sampler Analysis
stop. “
When multiple errors occur at the same time, give priority to processing in order of “Sample
Analysis is stop”, “Sampler Analysis suspend”, and “Sampler Analysis continue.” Details of each
processing are as follows:
6.3.1.1 Sampler Analysis Continue

6.3.1.2 Sampler Analysis Suspend

<Outline>
Sampler Analysis is suspended when process or check is needed by the operator (out of
reagents, analyzer barcode reader communication error).
<Processing when error occurs>
1. The analyzer returns the sample tubes to the rack when sample tubes are removed from
the rack to the analyzer.
2. After all sample tubes are returned to the rack; the analyzer transports the rack to the start
point and to end point on the analysis line, and then suspends temporarily Sampler
Analysis.
<Processing to clear the error>
1. The operator clears all suspended error.
2. The analyzer restarts Sampler Analysis automatically.
6.3.1.3 Sampler Analysis Stop

Sampler analysis is stopped when an impossible Sample Analysis error occurs. Depending on the
error occurring when Sampler Analysis is stopped, the errors are categorized into “Sampler
Analysis Stop 1”, “Sampler Analysis Stop 2, and “Sampler Analysis Stop 3”. When multiple errors
occur at the same time, give priority to processing in order of “Sampler Analysis Stop 3”, “Sampler
Analysis stop 2” and “Sampler Analysis stop 1”. Details of each processing are as follows.
6.3.1.3.1 Sampler Analysis Stop 1

<Outline>
When the error which cannot be recovered by the operator (thermistor error or other) occurred,
Sampler Analysis is stopped and the rack is automatically ejected to the rack ejecting table.

<Processing when error occurred>
1. The analyzer returns the sample tube to the rack when the sample tube is sent to the
analyzer from the rack.
2. The analyzer drains the rack to the rack ejection table after all sample tubes are returned
to the rack.
3. The analyzer initializes the sampler after all racks on the analysis line are ejected.
4. The error message “Complete sampler analysis stop” appears after the analyzer
initialized the sampler.
<Processing when error cleared>
The analyzer becomes ready to start analysis when the operator accepts the error message
“Completed sampler analysis stop”, and also there are no other errors.

<Outline>
When the error relating to the sample tubes transport (hand unit error or other), or error except
analysis line (rack feed-in error or other) occurred, the analyzer stops the sample tube and
rack transport. After error clears, the analyzer automatically drains the rack to the rack
ejection table.
1. The analyzer stops transporting the sample-tube to the analyzer, and also it stops
transporting the rack to the sampler.
2. The analyzer which has not occurred errors is transition to Manual mode. (Only Twin
Mode)
1. All errors are cleared by the operator.
2. The analyzer returns the sample tubes to the rack when returning the sample tube to the
rack from the analyzer is possible.
3. The analyzer drains the rack to the rack ejection table after processing 2 is completed.
4. The analyzer initializes the sampler after all racks are drained from the analysis line.
5. The error message “Completed Sampler Analysis Stop” appears after the analyzer
completed initializing the sampler.
6. The analyzer becomes ready to start analysis when the operator accepts the error
message “Completed sampler analysis stop”, and also there are no other errors.

<Outline>
The analyzer stops transporting the sample tubes and rack when the error relating to the
analysis line of the sampler (rack move error or others) occurred. The operator drains the rack
manually.
1. The analyzer stops sampler transport at the analyzer, and also, stops the rack transport at
the sampler.
2. The analyzer is transition to Manual Mode.
1. The operator removes all sample tubes and rack from the analysis line and the analyzer.
2. The operator clears all errors.
3. The analyzer initializes the sampler after all errors are cleared.
4. The error message “Completed sampler analysis stop” appears after the analyzer
completed initializing the sampler.
5. The analyzer becomes ready to start analysis when the operator accepts the error
message “Completed sampler analysis stop”, and also, there are no other errors.

6.3.2 Error Processing on the Twin Model
6.3.2.1 Conditions for continuing the sampler analysis when using Twin Model
On the sampler analysis using Twin Model, if sampler analysis is possible by the other analyzer,
sample analysis is continued, even if one of the analyzers is incapable of analyzing (including
switching to Manual Analysis Mode).
The sampler analysis suspends when all analyzers connecting to the sampler are incapable of
analyzing.
After suspending, when one of the analyzers becomes capable of sample analysis, sampler
analysis restarts.
However, the sampler analysis suspends without depending on the status of analyzer if the
following conditions are congruent with the errors.
1. When error is congruent with the suspending condition by user setting. (sampler ID read
error or the others)
2. When error is congruent with the suspending condition by system setting. (replacement of
common reagents or others)
Also, the sampler analysis and transport suspend without depending on the status of the analyzer if
the following conditions are congruent with the errors.
1. When the error relating to the Hand Unit (including pressure error) occurs.
2. When the sampler mechanism error occurs.

6.4 Categories of Error Monitoring
The incidence of errors on the XN-1000/2000 is classified.
6.4.1 Classifications of Error
The errors are classified into 4 categories as follows by sources of error monitoring. Depending on
the sampler and analyzer, there are related or unrelated categories to each instrument. (○=related
