My name’s Paul. I live with my mum and dad in a village near Oxford. My dad is
a shop assistant and my mum is a nurse. Mum works in a big hospital in
Oxford. She goes to work at nine o’clock in the evening and she works for ten
hours every night. Mum didn’t use to work at nights, but she really likes it now.
She works long hours, but she isn’t always busy.
When Mum gets home in the morning, we all have breakfast together. Then I go
to school, Dad goes to work and Mum goes to bed. She sleeps for about six
hours. Then she gets up when I come home from school. We talk and watch TV,
and then I start my homework. Yesterday, I didn’t have any homework, so we
played a board game. Dad came home from work at half past six and we all had
dinner together. We usually eat at about half past seven. Mum is often tired,
but she’s always cheerful.
After dinner, Mum watches TV and reads magazines. Then she gets ready for
work again. I wish she could stay at home in the evenings. I’m looking forward
to the weekend because Mum doesn’t work at weekends.

Jamie Sullivan, the famous Mount Everest is in the Himalayas, and it’s part of
the world’s highest mountain range. I’ve seen
travel writer, describes two Mount Everest, but I haven’t climbed it. I Three
places he has visited. years ago, I went trekking in Nepal and we went to
Everest Base Camp. It was great to see the highest
mountain in the world, but I didn’t like Base Camp
very much. People camp there in tents before and
after they climb the mountain. There was rubbish
everywhere. The camp wasn’t eco-friendly at all.
The people in Nepal were very friendly and I’d like
to go back there. But I don’t want to climb Mount
Everest. I don’t like heights!
New Zealand is one of my favourite countries, and
Kaikoura is my favourite place there. Kaikoura is a
small town on the coast of the South Island. You
can go whale-watching from Kaikoura. You can
also go swimming with dolphins. I’m an
experienced diver and when I went diving, I took
some wonderful underwater photos. The bird life is
fantastic, too. We went on a boat trip and threw
food into the water for the birds. Hundreds of huge
seabirds suddenly appeared. It was amazing.

In February 2005, Ellen MacArthur made When she was eighteen, she sailed around the
