 Thumbnail Designer Onboarding
Responsibilities
As a thumbnail artist, your responsibility will be to create high-quality
and eye-catching YouTube Thumbnails.

Trello
We use Trello for our workflow and team management. If you do not
have Trello, please sign up for an account here.

When you are assigned a project/thumbnail, it will appear under the

“Video Ideas” tab. This means we are ready for you to create the
thumbnail, there will be an included deadline and information on it too.

When you are working on it, move it to “Thumbnail - In Progress” so

we know you are working on it.

Once you are done with the thumbnail, move it over to the
“Thumbnail - Ready to Review” tab, and add the correct information
to the Trello card such as: Attach the image containing the
thumbnail, and any other info we need to know.

You will be assigned 4-5 projects per week. Once you are officially
done with all projects assigned that week. On Upwork, message us
asking for payment. We will review the work, may ask for a few
adjustments, and then send the payment.

 Thumbnail Checklist
Use this checklist to identify key components you need to have
in the thumbnail to get the best results.

● Thumbnail is similar to other thumbnails currently inside the

channel
● This allows viewers to quickly know whose channel the video is on

● Does the thumbnail make people ask a question to themselves

● “What happens next?” doesn’t give the viewer the full answer in
the thumbnail.

● Check to see what other people did with the same video title and
find similarities to copy.
● Don’t overcomplicate - just do what works
● Take inspiration - Model thumbnail after videos that already went
viral

● Make sure the image is high quality enough to see clearly

● Is the thumbnail bright and clear enough to see?

● Increase vibrance and saturation when editing the thumbnail

● Our eyes naturally draw toward bright and colorful things.

● Make sure there are no more words than 4

● Try to never use text unless needed.
● Avoid the bottom right, which contains the timestamp of the
video
● Make sure the thumbnail isn’t overly crowded.

● Will adding an arrow or circle increase the

engagement/attractiveness of the thumbnail?

2. Follow deadlines - You should always follow deadlines. This is a full-time

business and you are expected to make the dates

3. Communication is key - I understand things do happen, just send me a

accommodate
