Conceptual Framework of the Study

Presented in Figure 1 is the conceptual framework of the study.

This is a model that illustrates the relationship between engagement of

sports activities and physical development of learners with learning disabilities.

Indeed, the engagement of sports activities which includes athletic performance,

teamwork, active participation, focus and goal setting and following instruction,

serves as the independent variable. Engagement of sports activities refers to the

state of participation among leaners with disabilities to physical activities in the

school particularly sports together with regular students. it is believed that

engaging of sports activities among learners with disabilities would help them

develop life skills and talents make them appreciate fairness with other learners.
Moreover, the physical development of learners with disabilities which will

be measured by five indicators namely: improving motor skills, neuromuscular

development, social development and emotional development, serves as the

dependent variable. Physical development refers to the holistic progress evident

in the learners with disabilities towards a happy and memorable life with their fellow

learners. It would develop and maintain physical and psychological functioning,

promote a healthy lifestyle, and enhance life satisfaction of learners with

disabilities.
