Came from the Latin word” physica”, meaning Physics and “education”
meaning the training of the bodily organs and power with a view to the promotion
of hearts and vigor. --- Wikepedia 2015

Significance of Physical Education

1. It enhances an individual’s ability to concentrate and maintain focus;
2. It is important for healthy growth and development;
3. Prevents sleep deprivation
4. Helps in relieving stress and anxiety; and

Purpose of Physical Education

1) It increases physical fitness. Our goal is to incorporate all components

(strength, flexibility, agility, cardiovascular endurance) of fitness into lessons
throughout the year.

2) It nurtures a natural love of moving. We do our best to make learning and

moving fun. We believe that this is the age where children really enjoy moving
and playing and it is our hope that this enthusiasm remains as they grow.

3. Every day in P.E. classes students learn and practice basic locomotor
(hopping, skipping, running, etc.) manipulative (dribbling, kicking, throwing,
etc.) and non-manipulative (balancing, twisting, rolling, etc.) skills, as well as, a
multitude of special concepts (up, down, over/under, right/left, etc.). It guides
students in the process of becoming physically active for the rest of their lives

4) It helps create good citizens. Possibly the most important benefit of P.E. is the
teaching and reinforcement of all aspects of good citizenship. In every class fair
play, responsibility, cooperation, sharing, honesty, and other virtues are strongly
stressed. Serve multiple purpose such as health, value, or developmental
education.

school gymnasium or other school setting. It goals to improve and maintain
student’s current health and set them a path to maintain a healthy lifestyle
