ASSIGNMENT ON
CAREER IN PHYSICAL
EDUCATION
 What is Physical Education?
Let’s start with a statement, “Active Students =
Better Learners”.
Physical Education, often referred to as PE, is the artful
choreography of human kinetics, harmoniously
blending bodily movement with intellectual and
emotional nourishment.
It is not only about sports, yoga and exercises, there are
more deep things in it. There is much philosophy also.
The Aims of studying philosophy in Physical Education
are as follows:-
(i) Examining the philosophical arguments and
justifications for the inclusion of sport and
physical education within schools.
(ii) To provide new and alternative conceptions of
sport and physical education that are cogent
and defensible.
(iii) Provide readers with an understanding of the
influence of past and present philosophers with
respect to the topic.
 What is Health?
Health is a state of complete physical, mental,
and social well-being and not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity.
 Why mental and social well being is there for
Healthy lifestyle?
Mental health in children and adolescents has
become an increasingly important topic in recent
years. It is against this backdrop that physical
education and school sports play an important role
in promoting psychological wellbeing. The aim of
this review was to analyse interventions for
improving psychological wellbeing in this area. To
this end, a literature review was conducted using
four databases (WOS, SPORTDiscus, SCOPUS and
ERIC) and the following keywords: psychological
wellbeing, physical education, and school sports.
Twenty-one articles met the inclusion criteria. The
results showed that interventions varied greatly in
terms of duration and used a wide range of
strategies (conventional and non-conventional
sports, physical activity, games, etc.) for promoting
psychological well-being, primarily among
secondary school students. There was a lack of
consensus on the conceptualisation of the construct
of psychological well-being, resulting in various
tools and methods for assessing it. Some studies
also suggested a link between psychological well-
being and other variables, such as basic
psychological needs and self-determination. Finally,
based on our findings, this study defines
psychological wellbeing through physical activity.
