PHYSICAL EDUCATION IS "EDUCATION
THROUGH THE PHYSICAL". IT AIMS TO
DEVELOP STUDENTS’ PHYSICAL
COMPETENCE AND KNOWLEDGE OF
MOVEMENT AND SAFETY, AND THEIR
ABILITY TO USE THESE TO PERFORM IN A
WIDE RANGE OF ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED
WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ACTIVE
AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.
BRIEF HISTORY The history of physical education dates
OF PHYSICAL back to ancient Greece, where competition
and intensity were second nature. During

EDUCATION this time, physical education proved to be


important because it was a necessity in
training both Greek soldiers and athletes.
For children, physical education and
training would begin when they were
around seven years old, with the goal
being to eventually have them be well-
skilled in activities like boxing, chariot
races, and more. For this to happen, they
needed to understand their body and what
went into physical activity, thus physical
education played a large role in the
progression of the Greek society.
UNDERSTANDING THE
IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL
EDUCATION
Physical education is beneficial for both the bodies
and minds of students. By being more active,
students will also benefit by being able to better
avoid injury, they will have more confidence, and
they can see improved mental health. It's important
to educate students on the benefits of playground
and in-school physical activity and instruct them on
issues related to the human body and other health-
related issues to give them a better understanding
of how their body works.

A. PSYCHOMOTOR OBJECTIVES
(PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT)
Deals with the Program of activities that build
Physical Education power in a individual by
the developing the various organic system of
the body. it is the result of ability sto sustain;
recover and to resist Fatigue.
Develop of Health Related Fitness such as
cardio vascular endurance, muscular
Endurance, strenght and Flexibility.
Development of Performance- Related Fitness
such as speed, power, coordination and
balance.
B. COGNITIVE OBJECTIVES
(MENTAL DEVELOPMENT)
Includes of Intellectual Abilities,
acquisition of knowledge,
Formulation of Ideas, Problem
Solving, analysis, Interpretation
and Creativity
Understanding of Rules and
application of strategies and
technique in games in sports
Includes analysis of movement
and principle underlying
movement.
C. AFFECTIVE OBJECTIVE-SOCIAL
AND EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Social Development is concerned with helping an


individual in making personal and group
adjustment. this includes a feeling of belongings,
recognition, self respectand love
Affective Development is involves of attitudes,
appreciation and values. such as sportmanship ,
leadership, cooperation, honesty and discipline.
