Reflection Paper

1) What Are the Core Concepts and Theories You've Mastered?

- I learned about its history and how important it is to current engineering designs. The training
access to AutoCAD let me try out the software's features for myself. The parts about making pictures
were especially helpful. I learned new words and phrases, looked into useful tools like the buttons in
the status bar, and tried drawing. I now have a good knowledge of how CAD software works and how
it can be used in civil engineering projects thanks to these ideas.

2) What New Skills or Techniques Have You Developed?

- I learned a lot of new skills and techniques in this class that helped me get better at drawing. I
learned how to use AutoCAD well, especially how to draw simple shapes and carry out commands.
The detailed order lists were very helpful in this learning process. I also learned how to use layers in
AutoCAD correctly and how to use measurements and notes, which are very important for making
accurate engineering drawings. Making and changing dimension styles helped me pay even more
attention to details, which is very important for engineering sketches.

3) What Challenges Did You Encounter, and How Did You Overcome Them?
- An important task was getting used to all of AutoCAD's many commands and functions. I found it
difficult at first, but with constant practice and reference to the pdf files, I slowly became more
comfortable and skilled. Another hard thing was finding the right balance between accuracy and
speed, especially when doing activities and tests like Class Exercise 1 and Plate 1: 2D Drawings. I
solved this problem by carefully using what I had learned, making sure my work was correct while
gradually speeding it up.

4) How Will Your Learning Benefit Your Future Career as a Civil Engineer?
- The information and skills I've learned in this class will help me a lot in my future job as a
construction engineer. In today's engineering world, you need to know how to use CAD tools like
AutoCAD. To plan and carry out civil engineering jobs, you need to be able to make accurate and
detailed drawings. Learning about the background and significance of CAD along with practicing
drawing and using AutoCAD commands has equipped me to handle complicated designs and
projects with ease. These skills will help me get better at the building, planning, and doing parts of
civil engineering, which will make me useful in the field.
