Information as subject
Information as a subject basicly is about the
essential nature of information, since it is
fundamental to our existence, has been
considered by many disciplines, including
communications theory, library and
information science, information systems,
cognitive science, and organization science
(Rowley, 2007).
There are six approaches to the definition of
information (Floridi,2002) respectively:
• The Communication Theory Approach,
• The Probabilistic Approach,
• The Modal Approach,
• The Systemic Approach,

What is Data Science ?
Data science is a
discipline that
provides principles,
methodology and
guidelines for the
analysis of data for
tools, values, or
insights (Yan, D., &

Library Data Scientist !
Learn the Three core aspects of Data Analysis :
1. Exploration:
• Identifying patterns in the data
• Uses Visualization
2. Inference:
• Using data to draw a reliable conclusion about
world
• Uses Statistics
3. Prediction:
• Making informed guesses about unobserved data
• Use Machine learning and AI

Its All about Computational Thinking
Decomposition: Breaking down data, processes, or problems into
smaller, manageable parts
Pattern Recognition: Observing patterns, trends, and regularities
in data
Algorithm Design: Developing the step-by-step instructions for
solving this and similar problems
Abstraction (Story telling) : Identifying the general principles that
generate these patterns by focusing on the important information
only, ignoring irrelevant details; applying to similar problems

• Still consider not a fancy issue
• Data Governance Policy (Data Governance
is the power relations between all the
actors affected by, or having an effect on,
the way data is accessed, controlled, shared
and used, the various socio-technical
arrangements set in place to generate value
from data, and how such value is
redistributed between actors (Ponti, et.al.,
2020, p.3)
• No Clear bibliographic data Policy
• Not many librarian have passionate in this
field
