The Truth About Us

I am a river. I have a starting point where water begins its flow. I was born from melting snow
from our respected mountains. I have flowed for more than a millennium and I have carried
life. I have seen the rise and fall of civilizations , I have witnessed the impact of human activity
on our environment.

In my early days, my water was clean , clear and pure and my banks were filled with lush
vegetation and beautiful wildlife. I was a source of nonpareil no one could match my crystalline
water.
But over time, the impact of humans on the environment became more and more. My forest
friends were cleared for agriculture and dirty industries. And a lot of pollutants were dumped into
my holy waters. My banks became eroded and water became unclear and my friends
disappeared.

I have witnessed the devastating floods and droughts which over the time became more and
more common for me due to climate change. I have seen destruction caused by your water
projects. I have seen the pollution caused by factories and gutter treatment plants.

Despite everything I have faced, I still continue to do my work. I still continue to flow because I
am a survivor.

I have also seen your good deeds. I have seen humans protecting my friends and family so they
can restore their spot on banks. I have seen people cleaning up my water and reducing the
pollution caused by all of you. I have seen people who are working and helping to protect me
and my eco - system and they want to ensure that I continue to flow for the generation that is
yet to come.

I am a river, I am the witness of the human impact on the environment. I have seen all of the
damage this society of humans has caused to me and to the environment, but I have also seen
what good they can do. I believe no no no I am sure that we all can work together for creating a
sustainable future for all of us and our upcoming generation.

I also urge each and every human to take sustainable steps to reduce their pollution impact on
this environment. We all must and have to work together to protect our environment, rivers and
each and every other natural resource.
