The theoretical trajectories have been marked by clear contours which demarcate different
theories that sprang up in the scenario from time to time. The ideas and methods used in the
practical reading of literature remain to be a realm of constant experimentation and this paved
way for infinite trials. Starting from liberal humanism and ranging up to different offshoots of
cultural studies, the rationales of interpretations go on exploring new ambits. Theory in recent
years has sought to explain the degree to which the text is more the product of a culture than an
individual author and in turn how those texts help to create the culture. For this, even while using a
specific theory, traces of other theories may also exist, making even the tool (theory) an intertext. This
will result in an erasure of the lines that limit the scope of a particular theory, resulting in a side by
side use of multiple theories. The current state of theory is such that there are many overlapping areas
of influence, and older schools of theory, though no longer enjoying their previous eminence,
continue to exert an influence on the whole. Hence, this seminar focuses on the multiple points where
various theories intersect.
