English 210 - Team 4 Charter Draft 1

Team members: Maria Al-Rabbat (Team Manager), Shahd Darwish, Lujane Ahmed,
Samia Afrin, Noor Al-Thani
Date Submitted: Saturday, September 30, 2023

Broad Team Goals:

● Engineer and develop an efficient and innovative solution to address a prominent
engineering challenge within Qatar.
● Consistently provide exemplary work with clarity and precision throughout the
semester.

Measurable Team Goals & Milestones:

● Meet all deadlines per all requirements and criteria assigned
● Meeting all the guidelines of a project’s assignment sheet when creating that
project
● Ensure that the work is distributed and assigned evenly/fairly and that no
members are overworked

Individual Goals:
Maria Al-Rabbat (team manager): Deliver a proper presentation, tackling a relevant issue and
possibly creating connections/ networking with outside companies and stakeholders.
● As the project/team manager, implement concepts and principles of project management
acquired from external training.

Shahd Darwish: Develop a strong portfolio and work on strengthening my work organization
and sticking to my plan.

Lujane Ahmed: To solidify communication skills between myself and others in order to ensure
that everyone is on the same page and prevent conflict or confusion between group members.

Samia Afrin: To be flexible and open to change. Adjustments and pivots are commonplace in
team projects; being adaptable can improve how well the team handles difficulties.

Noor Al Thani: To gain a proper understanding of how professional team collaborations work,
and adapt to this type of professional collaborative environment.
Other Concerns:
Maria Al-Rabbat (team manager): I am concerned about managing team dynamics and
ensuring that team members collaborate effectively, communicate well, and resolve conflicts
constructively.
Shahd Darwish: I am concerned about conflicts between team members and meeting team
deadlines that could conflict with my own.

Lujane Ahmed My biggest concern is our team falling behind and not staying on task for the
duration of the project and then having to rush to put things together towards the end.

Samia Afrin: I am concerned about maintaining high levels of team engagement and
motivation, especially in the times of long-term projects.

Noor Al Thani: I am concerned about team members not presenting acceptable work or
missing project deadlines as it might put stress on the rest of the team.

Communication Strategies: The team will mainly utilize two communication means:
Social Media (WhatsApp): Utilized for reminders, arranging meetings (on Zoom),
Google Drive: Regarding working on assignments, a Google Drive is shared amongst
team members to organize all content and assignments for this course in a mannerly
order and designate one area where we could all work simultaneously.

Conflict resolution: In the event of a conflict arising among team members, they are
encouraged to address and resolve the issue individually within one day. If the conflict
persists beyond this timeframe, the team manager will intervene in an attempt to
facilitate a resolution. If the conflict continues to escalate, the instructor will be notified
and may become involved.

Missed Deadlines: To ensure timely project completion, the team has established a
system of soft and hard deadlines and a Gantt chart. The soft deadline is set a few days
before the hard deadline. Team members are expected to submit their work by the soft
deadline as a preliminary draft. If a soft deadline is missed, team members are required
to inform the team manager for support and guidance. If a soft deadline is missed a few
times (less than three times), the team will convene a meeting to explore strategies for
improvement. If a team member consistently demonstrates a lack of effort and fails to
meet soft deadlines (more than three times), the team manager and the member will
initiate a one-on-one discussion. If necessary, the course instructor may become
involved. A Gantt chart is prepared to streamline all deadlines and prepare team
members accordingly.
Unacceptable work:
● Plagiarized
● Paraphrased (without citation)
● Generated by AI
● Incomplete text or text that does not meet the rubric expectations
● Does not follow relevant prompt or topic
● Partial information
