Title: Design of Closed-Loop Control for a DC-DC Buck Converter Using the TI Delfino F280049C in

MATLAB

Abstract: This assignment centers around the development of a buck converter utilizing a Texas
Instruments (TI) Delfino F280049C development board. The initial step involves calculating all
essential parameters, including the inductor and capacitor values required for the buck converter. For
example, to design a 6-volt buck converter from a 12-volt supply, it is crucial to determine the
appropriate inductor and capacitor values for the design. Subsequently, need these values to design
the buck converter in MATLAB.

Objective: The primary objectives of this assignment are:

1. To comprehend the operational principles of a buck converter.

2. To learn how to calculate inductor and capacitor values based on input and output
voltages.
3. To implement an open-loop buck converter model in MATLAB/Simulink.
4. To implement closed-loop control for a DC-DC buck converter using any closed-loop
control method, such as PID.
5. To gain familiarity with programming the TI Delfino F280049C using
MATLAB/Simulink.

Materials Required:

1. MATLAB/Simulink.
2. TI Delfino F280049C development board.

Tasks:

1. Calculate the values for the inductor and capacitor based on input and output
voltages.
2. Implement the open-loop buck converter model in MATLAB/Simulink.
3. Implement closed-loop control for the DC-DC buck converter using a selected
method, such as PID.
4. Design the closed-loop control of a DC-DC buck converter using the TI Delfino
F280049C in MATLAB/Simulink.
