The question Does Lingayat Comes under OBC in Central List does not have a
one-word answer. Lingayats are comprised of many sub-castes. Some fall
under OBC and some under SC. There are also subcastes in Lingayats which
doesn’t have a reservation and falls under OC.

In this post, I’m sharing details of the Lingayat castes that have OBC
reservation. This is according to the central list. So if you are applying for any
central government post like UPSC, SSC, NEET exam, Bank Exams you have to
check in this list. The list mentioned here is based on the central
list(September 2018). You can verify it in ncbc.nic.in

The central OBC list should be verified according to the state concerned. Eg:
Caste Klingon in Karnataka may get OBC status but the same caste Klingon in
Tamilnadu may fall under OC.

 Does Veerashaiva Lingayats comes under OBC in
Central List?
No, Veerashaiva Lingayats does not falls under OBC category. In the state of
Karnataka they belong to BC but in centre list they come under General
Category and not under OBC. For a very long period they are claiming for OBC
reservation in Centre list. Recently in 2019 Central government rejected their
plea.
