 Calcula=on of Varnada Lagna

•There are two methods of calcula=ng Varnada Lagna. One is based

on degrees and the other is based on signs. Both methods follow the
same steps, but can give different results if the sum of the Lagna and
Hora Lagna exceeds 30 degrees.
•The Varnada lagna always occupies a sign of different oddity than
that of the Lagna. But, the degree-method of calcula=on may not give
this result. Hence, the method based on signs is usually preferred.
 Calcula=on

•Step 1: Determine the sign of the Lagna and Hora Lagna.

•Step 2: a) If either the Lagna / Hora Lagna are placed in odd signs count direct
from Aries to Lagna / Hora Lagna
•Step 2: b) If Lagna / Hora Lagna are placed in even signs, the count should be in
reverse from Pisces to the Lagna / Hora Lagna.
•Step 3: a) If both Lagna and Hora Lagna are in odd signs or if both are in even
signs then add the count numbers obtained.
•Step 3:b) If Lagna and Hora Lagna are in signs of different oddity, then find the
difference by subtrac=ng the smaller number from the larger number. If both are
equal, then the difference is zero which should translate to 12 signs.
•Step 4: a) If the Lagna is an odd sign, count the resultant number obtained in
Step 3, in the direct zodiacal order from Aries.
•Step 4: b) If the Lagna is an even sign, count the resultant number obtained in
Step 3, in reverse from Pisces.
•This is applied to all the houses from Lagna and Hora Lagna respec=vely to
calculate the Varnada of all houses.
