I. Objectives:
Identify the meaning of the new word that when added with suffixes –less means “without”, -ful
means “full of”, -able means “capable of/can be” –ible means “able to be”
Give the meaning to the new word formed that is added by a suffixes –less; -ful;-ible, or –able;
Differentiate meaning of words added by suffixes –less and –ful; -ible, and –able; and
Use suffixes and root words as clues to get the meaning of words.
III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activity
1. Review/drill:
Look for the words with prefixes in each sentence. Write your answers inside the column by
identifying the prefix and the root word then give the meaning.
1. I was unable to write down the number of the car.
2. The new owner plans to rebuild the franchise.
3. Alarm system had been disconnected.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation
Let us read a story. In the story, try to understand the meaning of the underlined words.
One morning, Rose, Luz, and Noemi were playing in a peaceful garden. They looked energetic
and cheerful. They were laughing when a toothless and fearless old man approached them.
The old man asked them for food. They gave the old man food in a disposable but durable
container. Because the children were kind and approachable, the old man felt an incredible
feeling towards them. He was so thankful for their generosity.
