Annual Report - 2018

Generation without Qat Organization

Introduction:

Generations Without Qat was initially created by a youth initiative in 2007. A group of youth from both male and female who voluntary formed
themselves to be agents of changes in Taiz city advocating for social, political and developmental rights. On the year of 2010 it became officially
licensed NGO to start its contribution in the path of youth participation in the development life of Yemen. GWQ started its work and
contribution through two main sectors; Community Awareness and mobilization within (Civic Education, Public Rights to be Heard and
capacity building) and Development through (Implementing direct developmental projects that starts from community contribution and self-
initiatives).

On March 2015 and after the escalation of the conflict in Yemen, GWQ found it-self at the middle of a social responsibility to respond to the
humanitarian needs that raised rapidly due to the conflict. As a community based organization which is available in Taiz city, and due to the
escalation of conflict inside the city which made Taiz as a hot spot area with no access from all INGOs and other actors in Yemen, GWQ was the
first local NGO who started to provide rapid humanitarian response and relief support inside Taiz city. GWQ collaborated with a lot of INGOs
and UN agencies and became a main partner for lots of international humanitarian agencies who supported conflict-affected communities with
diverse humanitarian interventions. This was a turn point for GWQ to start a new path on humanitarian response added to its mandate on social
awareness and local development.

Since GWQ started its work from 2008, it has been dedicated its efforts to support communities in the country, especially the most vulnerable
ones, in providing local awareness, local advocacy, community mobilization, livelihoods, health, WASH and education. It has scaled up on its
