Instructions: Following the example of Dr. Nelson in the Visual Analysis Outline Demo video, organize your
analysis of the visual components and rhetorical situation of your visual text. Complete each chart with
information from your visual analysis notes worksheet to plot what you need to discuss in each section of your
essay.
Section 1: Introduction
a. Identify the visual text, its genre, and relevant facts about the context of its production:

Controlling What: This beach picture from Casablanca conveys a sense of escape, adventure, and a
Idea desire for exploration. It evokes a feeling of freedom, happiness, and a longing for a tropical
gateway.
How: The picture helps convey the message by capturing the serene beauty of the beach in
Casablanca. The clear blue waters, the sandy shore, and people around create a visual
representation of relaxation and tranquility. The color, composition, and overall aesthetics of
the image work together to evoke emotions and transport the viewer to a peaceful beach
setting.

Point 1 A dog’s body + 3 horses + Two horse riders.

Described We can see the white body with sort of grey dots right in front of all components in the

We can see them riding the horse in the sun right above the horses passing to the right.

Described Exactly in the center a man is with his red cycle looking at the dog digging the sand.
Evidence 2 Just below the head of the horse on the right behind we can see a family I guess of 5 people
in which 3 are children and other 2 the adult.
Right behind the family we see the couple following the family talking to each other.
Right behind and in the left corner we can just see two women talking to each other.
