Eligibility Report On Candidates For 2023 Students' Union Election
The Reports we have here, itemizes the eligibility status of each candidate and clearly informs of the reason for the
decisions that has been taken.
It is necessary that we state some facts based on the 2023 Students’ Union Constitution as amended;
1. That the Electoral Committee has the power to make rules and regulations to ensure orderliness and good
conduct in the elections and during the electioneering campaign. (see Article 20.9)
2. That the Electoral Committee has the power to nullify the candidacy of any candidate that contravenes the
rules and regulations. (see Article 20.10)
3. That all Candidates signed an attestation accepting to be disqualified if they contravene the guideline.(see
guideline attached).
With the following, we understand that there may be some students who may be disgruntled by the decisions we
have made. Those who may be aggrieved by the decisions that have been made may wish to apply the constitutional
means by approaching the panel that may be set up by the University Management. (see Article

2023.
VIOLATION OF

NB: Only cleared candidates shall be reserved of the right to nominate undergraduate students of the University of
Port Harcourt as agents to observe the process during the elections.
According to the Students’ Union Constitution, Article 19.3, “Vacancies occurring in any of the elections shall be
filled in a bye election to be conducted within 3 weeks after the general election.”
Collection and submission of forms shall be reopened for the positions of SUG Judges from Saturday 25th to
Tuesday 28th, November 2023. There shall be a Bye-Election for the vacant position on a date that shall be
determined by the Dean of Students’ Affairs suitable to any date that would not adversely alter the Academic
Calender.
