ISB SUPER LEAGUE

TEAM/FRANCHISE
AUCTION RULES
Date 24th December

Venue TBD

Time TBD
REGISTRATION RULES
All bidding teams must submit the following supporting documents to the ISL Team before the team auction
process begins.
An Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹1,50,000 (through an NEFT issued in favour of the Indian School of Business
or cheque or DD). This amount needs to be transferred a day before the team auction takes place (the exact time
to be communicated is closer to the date), and only teams who have submitted this amount will be eligible to
participate in the team auction process.
The names of all co-owners of the franchise confirmed earlier at the deadline (not including player owners)
The names of the seven members sitting at the bidding table.
The name of the one member in charge of raising the bid amount.
A signed copy (by all the members sitting at the bidding table) acknowledging the rules. The members signing the
acknowledgment represent the entire consortium.

In the event of a successful bid, the EMD amount (as deposited above) will be adjusted against the final bid price
of the franchises by the owner/owner group.
However, in case of an unsuccessful bid, the EMD amount will be returned to the owner /owner group as soon as
the bidding process is over.
PLAYER OWNERS
A total of 2 owner players are allowed per team. Two player owners can be from the batch, but only one
player owner from the Alum pool is allowed. That means teams can have a maximum of 2 batch player owners or
1 batch and 1 alum player owner.

The number of bid points deducted for the player owners will equal the highest bid by the respective team.

The names of the player owners for each franchise will be required to be submitted to the ISL Team 1 week
before the start of the Player Auction. Teams don't need a player owner compulsorily, but the maximum number
(2) a franchise can have is as mentioned in the above rule.

Illustration of Player Owner Pricing:

1 week prior to the start of player auctions, all teams will submit list of player owners (rules applicable as above).
Such players will not go in the main pool and play for the teams they are owners of. Suppose Titans pay a maximum
of 50k bid points for any player in the open auction. Now, since they have 2 player owners - 150k bid points will be
deducted from their total balance (50k x 2 for the player owners + 50k for the highest bid player).

POST BIDDING PROCEDURE
1. The winning teams will be required to either pay 100% of the entire bid amount through a cheque / NEFT transfer immediately after
the completion of the bidding process or pay 50% through a cheque / NEFT transfer immediately after the completion of the bidding
process and the balance 50% through an NEFT transfer within 1 week of the team auction process.

2. If a winning Bidding Team cannot raise the Bid Amount after completion of the bidding process or must withdraw from the ISL for any
other valid reason, the team will be sold to a new consortium at the 4th highest bid price in the initial auction.

3. In case there 2 or more consortiums available to own this 4th franchise, then an open auction will be conducted (as is done for the
team name) with the price starting at INR 10,000 and increasing in increments of INR 5,000 or above.

4. If the Defaulting Team owned a Wildcard), then that Wildcard will go into a re-auction process among all consortiums who don’t yet
own a Wildcard in the following manner:
a. If Wildcard 1 defaults, the top 2 highest bidders in the original team auction can bid for Wildcard 1.
b. If Wildcard 2 defaults, all teams without a Wildcard can bid.

5. Furthermore, in the aforementioned scenario, the Defaulting Team will be penalised and will have to forfeit the EMD of INR 1,50,000
as deposited earlier at the start of the Team Auction process.

6. As per the institute’s mandate, any funds to be used for ISL Activities, including bidding, sponsorships and others, must be deposited
in and accessed through an internal ISB Account - details for which will be provided later.

In case of any disputes, the decision of the ISL Team will be final and binding
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT
The first 2 consortiums to submit their EMD (along with a screenshot of the time) will be eligible for A DISCOUNT COUPON, redeemable
during the Player Auctions. The rules for the same are as follows:

The discount coupon can only be used for player auctions, and the discount amount will be in the form of player points. It is not
mandatory that a team owns a coupon; use it. They have an option to sell it to another team.
A total of 2 coupons will be issued only to consortiums that own a franchise. The timing of EMD payment by a consortium that did
not end up owning a franchise will be considered irrelevant.
Each coupon will allow the team owning it to receive a refund on the bid of a single player. The refund amounts will be as a
percentage of the bid on the player. The discount percentages will be:
10% for the franchise owners, which put their EMD first
5% for the franchise owners, which put their EMD second

The discount coupon shall be given to winning teams based on their payment time stamp. For example, if 2 teams submit their EMD
on the same day, the team that did so earlier, as per official records, will receive the coupon with the higher value.
To redeem the coupon, the team owning it must indicate its intention to avail it immediately after a successful bid for a player. It is
the duty of the team owners to ensure that the coupon is availed, and the ISL Team will not be responsible if the team owners fail to
communicate such, nor will it ask the franchise owners if they wish to avail the coupon.
The winning bid for a player does not change if a refund coupon is availed. The refund amount is credited back to the franchise’s
remaining auction points.
The timing of receipt of EMDs will be declared 1 day before the player auction, and owners of these coupons can sell them to
another franchise (except the franchise that already has a coupon).
CONTINGENCY PLAN
In case of any premature end, unexpected halt, or any termination before the completion of all scheduled sports due to any Act of
God/ Force Majeure events, the following guidelines will be followed:

1. In case of temporary or predictable delay, there would be no changes except the date, time, and order of events to accommodate
all the sports in the remaining time.
2. In case of unforeseeable circumstances where tournaments must be brought to a halt by the administration, the committee
would, first explore the options of restarting the tournament at some later time before graduation in consultation with all 4
franchisees.
3. In case too little time is left to resume the league or the league has been permanently asked to cease its operations, and if the
group stages of at least 50% of all sports (sports where 1st position is valued at >=100 points) have been completed by then with
only the finals for the above-stated sports pending, the league standings would be decided based on an adjusted leaderboard. For
creating this adjusted leaderboard, the following process would be followed:

Each of the two teams that make it to the finals will be awarded the average of the points allocated to the first- and second-
placed teams for that sport.

The teams who do not make it to the finals, will be awarded points for 3rd and 4th place based on league standings.
