STARTUP AUCTION
Startup Auction Round-3 will be held in
offline mode on 7th January 2023. It will
be held on the IIT BHU campus. All the
participants are requested to report at
the IIT BHU campus by the evening of 6th
January 2023. Accommodation details
will be conveyed before teams reach the
campus. Further details regarding the
event venue and timing will be shared.
Round 3 of the startup auction
involves portfolio management. In
this round, teams will bid on various
startups to build their portfolio, and
the portfolio with the highest
valuation will be declared the
winner.
Bidding will proceed as follows:

All the participants are required to reach the venue with their team at the allotted time. No
late admission will be permitted.

A document containing all the information regarding the companies will be provided to each
participant 12 hours prior to the event. The document will contain a ‘startup card’ which is
similar to the player card in an IPL auction.

Each team will be provided with 1 Million USD in their initial portfolio using which they will place
their bids. All teams are expected to evaluate the startup cards and make a list prior to the
event, on the basis of which they will place their bids on the desired company.

Bidding process

At the offline bidding event, the company names will be displayed on the screen. Teams must also
look out for the news displayed with the company name on the screen. You will be provided with
companies from different sectors, what they are working on, and what they do. Further, you will be
provided with news snippets related to the company, on the basis of which you will have to predict
how the market reacted to the news. Thereafter, you will decide whether you wish to invest in the
company or not.
Only a maximum number of 4 teams can invest in a specific company that they believe will
perform well. To invest in a company you will have to pay an entry fee which will enable us to
shortlist the teams eligible to invest in the company. Thus in order to be eligible you will have to
match or raise the highest bid on the entry fee. It is to be noted that this entry fee will be treated as
burnt money, i.e., you cannot use this money to invest in that company, only to enter the bidding
process.
After a certain number of teams are sorted out, they can invest whatever amount they want to put
into the company.


Only the team leader can place bids.
We request you to bring your laptop so
that you can check startup cards or
some necessary data from your side at
the time of event.
3-5 mins will be provided prior to each
bid so that the team can discuss
whether they wish to invest in the
company or not.
You cannot revert your placed bid. No
such requests will be entertained.
RULING
Final evaluation of your portfolio will be
done as a total sum of profits and/or
losses on your investment and the
remaining balance in your account. The
team with the highest total sum will be
declared the winner.
ALL THE PREDICTIONS OF FUTURE PRICES WILL
BE DONE WITH PROPER MATHEMATICAL
CALCULATION AND THEY WILL BE CONSIDERED
FINAL.
IN CASE OF ANY DISCREPANCY, THE DECISION
OF THE ORGANIZERS OF THE EVENT SHALL BE
FINAL AND BINDING.
