Encourage eating foods and

eating food in a relaxed
environment to help reduce the
secretion of hydrochloric acid.

management as ordered.

management such as, relaxation
techniques, guided imagery, and
appropriate diversional activities.
Administer prescribed
medications. Encourage patient
to eat regularly spaced meals
which are not irritating to the
gastric mucosa in a relaxed
atmosphere.
Examine GI function.
Administer fluids, blood,
electrolytes and edication as
prescribed. Prepare for
endoscopy or surgery.
Urge the patient to drink the
prescribed amount of fluid.
Administer parenteral fluids as
prescribed. Provide measures to
prevent excessive electrolyte
loss
Reduce intensity level or
discontinue activities that cause
undesired physiological
changes. Provide comfort
measures and relief of pain
Suggest client to wear
loose-fitting clothing and
encourage distracting
techniques such as deep, slow
breathing.
Teach non-pharmacological
strategies such as deep
breathing exercises, Keep
emesis basin and oral care
articles within reach. Keep the
patient’s head elevated to at
least thirty degrees. Administer
fluids intravenously as ordered
