It is becoming increasingly popular to have a year off between finishing school and going to
university. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

Today, it has become a common trend for school graduates to take a year off after graduation.
Although traveling and entertainment purposes are the main benefits, I believe that losing
interest in further study can be an issue for students.

On the one hand, while taking a gap year, students may be outlying from the study, and
sometimes it can be helpful for their mental health. They will have more opportunities to
explore new knowledge, learn and develop their outlook around the world. Moreover, it is
often argued that a gap year can be a key to hundreds of possibilities. For instance, graduates
can start learning a new foreign language and develop their IT skills and qualities, which is
significant to learn in future careers.
