it is becoming increasingly popular to take a gap year between

university and work. what are the advantages and disadvantages

of doing this?
Nowadays, taking a gap year between university and work has become a popular
alternative among many youngsters. This time off provides a break after many years of
studying and for lots of young adults it could be an attractive opportunity to spend an
extended period abroad before stating work.
However, there are both advantages and disadvantages of doing this, in this essay I
will discuss both sides before draw some conclusions.

One of the main benefits travelling around the world for a year can definitely broaden
their horizons. What I mean by this they can learn a new language, meet new people
with different backgrounds and an opportunity to get to know a new culture.
Secondly, taking a gap year provides practical experiences, young people can learn
more about themselves, it gives time to think about their profession.

Turning the other side of the argument, they may experience language problems and
learning a new language can be tougher than they thought.
Another issue is the experience of the culture shock and the feeling of loneliness.
Making and developing new friendships takes time and it can be more difficult in a
culture that they are not used to.

All things considered, having a year off after graduating is not a wrong decision.
Despite all disadvantages, I believe it has more advantages for the young generation.
They can gain some great experiences and enjoy life before starting work.
