PART A- (10 x 2 = 20 marks)

PART B - (5 x 13 = 65 marks)

11. (a) Explain with a neat diagram the working principle of Laser Beam

Machining (LBM). Give also its advantages, disadvantages and
applications.

PART C - (1 x 15 = 15 marks)

16. (a) A company purchases small steel balls in cartons that usually contain
several thousand balls. Each shipment consists of a number of cartons.
As part of the acceptance procedure for these balls, 400 balls are selected
at random from each carton and are subjected to visual inspection for
certairi detect. In a shipment of 10 cartons, the- respective parentage of
defectives in the sample from each canon is 0.5, 0, 0.75, 2, 0, 0.25, 0, 0.25
and 1.25. Does this shipment of balls appear to exhibit statistical control
with respect to the quality characteristics examined in this inspection?

Or
(b) Narrate on functioning of CMM. And bring out the procedure to measure
the various dimensions of a motor body. Mention the various types of
CMMs and possible source of errors associated with them.
