Subject: /lib/modules/3.13-1-amd64/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau.ko: Not working for GK107M NVE7 Kepler GEFORCE GT
650M

[Message part 1 (text/plain, inline)]

Package: src:linux
Version: 3.13.4-1
Severity: normal
File: /lib/modules/3.13-1-amd64/kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/nouveau/nouveau.ko

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading from linux 3.12 to 3.13 nouveau driver stopped working.
Xorg falls back to vesa driver.

Bugreport has made a great job collecting all needed info so there is not
much to say.

I think this is an upstream problem since I have seen the same report
(different laptop, same video hw) on Arch:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1386244

As always, thanks a lot to all Debian maintainers for such a wonderful work!

Greetings.

I'm sorry, after reading the report I noticed I should elaborate more (I
was in a hurry).

I am running Debian sid for AMD64 on a Lenovo IdeaPad Y400 laptop (details
can be seen on "Model information" section of last message). Video card is:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107M [GeForce GT

650M] (rev a1)

Full data from lspci is on last post. That is the only video card, I have
seen most laptops with that model also have an Intel board for use with all
that bumblebee + primus + bbswitch stuff, but this seems to be a stand
alone hw config.

A few days ago after a dist-upgrade kernel was upgraded to linux-image

3.13-1 and then, after reboot, nouveau driver stopped working. The error
can be seen on kernel log:

...

I would like confirm this bug running linux 3.13 686-pae, the Nvidia card is a
GeForce 6800. System is an updated jessie/testing.

Same problem with the failed creation and probing of nouveau occurs with linux
3.14~rc7-1~exp1.

Kernel 3.12 runs fine.

Unfortunatelly it's beyond my knowlege to debug kernel bugs. But it is a real

problem for end users who prefer the free nouveau driver.

Markus

Hello.

Today I tried with linux-image-3.14-1-amd64 version 3.14.2-1 and the

problem persists. I thought it could be related to a firmware bug mentioned

I am attaching full dmesg and Xorg.log from 3.14 and 3.12.

On my last message I forgot to mention that I also tried adding

video.allow_duplicates=1 kernel option as suggested by dmesg log but it
didn't made any difference, the attached 3.14 dmesg and Xorg logs were
taken when running with that option.
