The Spanish

language
El idioma Español
Spanish is one of my favorite languages that I really wish to learn

Spanish is a beautiful, lyrical language. It's music to the ears of those who listen to it and
sweet on the tongue for those who speak it.

But Have you ever wondered where, exactly, does Spanish come from?

Spanish comes from different languages and Arabic is one of them .

the Arabic language have a lot of influence on the Spanish language,About 8% of the current Spanish vocabulary
words evolved from the Arabic language influenced by the culture of the Muslim Civilization that lived in Spain for
over 800 years, from the 8th to the 15th century. There are over 5000 words in Spanish that originated from the
Arabic language.
Examples of Spanish words from Arabic origin :
Such as places names :
Andalucía Al-Andalus ‫اﻻﻧﺪﻟﺲ‬
Alcázar Al-Kasr ‫اﻟﻘﺼﺮ‬
Alhambra Alhamra ‫اﻟﺤﻤﺮاء‬
And other examples of last names such as :
Dali : which comes from the original Arabic word ‫دﻟﻴﻞ‬
El Cid Al-Seed (Al-Sayed) ‫اﻟﺴﻴﺪ‬
AlcaldeAl-Kadi ‫اﻟﻘﺎﺿﻲ‬
They also say ,Hasta hatta ‫ﺣﺘﻰ‬
Algodon Al-cotton ‫اﻟﻘﻄﻦ‬
Camisa Qamis ‫ﻗﻤﻴﺺ‬
And so many other words.
as you can notice they also use the (al ) just like the Arabic ( ‫ )ال‬in some of their words as an article
instead of (the ) like in English .
While we’re at it , let me tell you about English and Spanish
Of course there’s a lot of words that Spanish took from English ,
There are over 1000 English words, Some of them are true cognates and other’s
are false cognates.
True cognates means that its not only similar in pronunciation but also have the
same meaning, for example:
Invisible : invisible
Académico: academic
Orgánico: organic
Excelente: excellent
And the false cognates is that they have similar pronunciation but don’t have the same meaning for example:
Carpeta : which you might think it means carpet but it actually means : Folder
And Exito : doesn’t mean Exit it means Success .
And finally here’s some facts about the Spanish language

Spanish is the most widely spoken Romance language.

The other Romance languages include Portuguese,
French, Italian, Romanian and Catalan, among others.
They all trace their linguistic family lines back to the
Indo-European language family
This language is spoken across the globe and is even used widely in
countries that have an official language that isn't Spanish. The
United States is a prime example of a place where Spanish is used
extensively despite it not being the country's official language.
Spanish is the native language to 500 million people in 21 countries. It's
considered the second world language in international communication and
the third world language in politics, economics and culture. A "world
language" is a language that's widely learned as a second language and
spoken extensively across the globe.
