4. Application Review Process

B. Additional requirements
1) Admitted applicants who fail to meet the CAU Korean language requirement must take a leave
of absence and enroll in the designated Korean Language Courses at the CAU Institute of
International Education. The students are required to attend the courses at the Anseong
campus for the first 6 months. Failure to register for the Korean language course may result
in dismissal from your undergraduate academic record.
2) Upon meeting any of the standards below, the student will be allowed to enter CAU and start
taking a degree program at CAU in the coming semester.
- Submit a Certificate of TOPIK level 4 or higher
(TOPIK level 3 or higher for Design department/Global School of Arts Applied Music /
Global School of Arts Game Contents & Animations)
- Complete the level-4 (or higher) Korean Language Course at the CAU Institute of
International Education(Applies only upon admission)
- Complete Korean language course Level 5 at a Korean University certified by IEQAS.
Please refer to the Korean Version of Undergraduate Admission Guide for International
Students. (20p).
- Complete Sejong Hakdang Korean Intermediate 2 course or higher
(Applies only upon admission)
3) All Applicants should follow the above mentioned policies. Applicant who does not follow the
policies will face corresponding limitations.
5. Admission Decision
A. Admission decisions are made by each department based on total scores.
B. Applicants may apply for a single department or two departments.
C. For applicants who want to apply for two departments, you may choose the humanities department
and the natural science department(Humanities, Social Sciences, Business &Economics, Natural
Sciences, Biotechnology &Natural Resources , Engineering, ICT Engineering, Software, Arts and
Technology) as your second choice after applying for your first choice. (Please note that you may
not select the medical department or the arts and sports department as your second choice.)
D. The second choice of the student will only be taken into consideration if their first choice is
rejected.
E. Applicants proven unqualified for CAU during document review will not be admitted to CAU.
F. Qualified applicants with the same scores will all be accepted.
G. In case the applicant’s visa issuance is denied by the Korean government, your admission can be
canceled. Also, the tuition fee will be refunded according to the university policy.
H. Failure to submit required documents, false entries in the documents, forgery, falsification,
examination irregularities, or ineligibility will lead to rejection of application or even to cancellation of
admission regardless of the evaluation results.

6. Practical Test (Audition & Portfolio)

Applicants shall prepare an audition piece from either [a drama] or
[a musical] and perform it while demonstrating their talents as
actors/actresses at the audition.

Film Design
Through questions mostly about the submitted portfolio, the applicant’s
intention behind the portfolio, process of portfolio production, the
applicant’s knowledge and aptitude will be tested.
Arts ◉ Based on his/her portfolio, applicants will be interviewed on their
intention behind the pieces and photography techniques they used.

led to the final project and how the idea develop your own

personal statement as well as a video to introduce yourself.

01. Video Introduction
A. Contents: Please provide only the major and name you
applied for, and then proceed to discuss explanations specifically
related to the portfolio you submitted. (This should include
details about the production intention of the work, your role,
your efforts in fulfilling that role, the production process, and
the motivations behind the production.)
**The introduction video must start with the phrase of <Example>
below.

-The introduction video should be recorded using a fixed
camera in a horizontal (16:9) aspect ratio. The camera should

the front.
02. Portfolio (Regardless of genre, submit only 1 basic to maximum
2)
A. The submitted videos should not be related to live action,
animation, CGI, etc. (Please note that photos/pictures are not
accepted as part of the portfolio.)
B. The video's genre (short film, web drama, short form,
performance/appearance video, etc.) should be widely
recognized. However, you should submit the work that best
showcases your role or abilities. (For submitted works, please
edit and ensure they are no longer than 5 minutes.)
C. Be sure to indicate your role in the video as credits (Korean
subtitles)
D. Applicants for acting majors are required to submit a
monologue video featuring their performance. The video should
be shot with a fixed camera in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Organize
your acting with suitable movement and lines. The video should
not exceed 1 minute and 30 seconds in duration. If performing
in a foreign language, please include Korean subtitles.
E. Scenario submitters should provide a planning intention or
synopsis that is less than 1 page in length, along with the
scenario itself. Please note that only the individual's role will be
recognized in the evaluation.
03. Note: In the case of a portfolio, if a work is produced on behalf
of another person or if plagiarism of another person's work is
discovered, the admission will be revoked even after the
admission decision has been made.

10. Notes on Document Submission
A. All documents submitted must be originals unless certified copies have been approved by an
officer of Office of International Affairs at Chung-Ang University in case of unavoidable
circumstances.
B. Any documents written in languages other than English or Korean must be accompanied by a
Korean translation certified by a public notary.
C. Applicants who apply for two departments should print out both the 1st and 2nd choice
application form as well as the consent form for academic background inquiry. These forms
should be submitted along with one copy of the admission documents.
D. After the online application, a hard copy of the application forms and required documents must
be put in a mailing envelope, on which the given envelope cover (printable from the web
application system) is glued, and be mailed to Office of International Affairs. (Please refer to
“Document Submission Address.” page)
※ Must be received between September 6, 2023 (Wed) 09:00 – October 4, 2023 (Fri) 18:00
E. If different names are used among the submitted documents, proper documents issued by the
legal authorities in the applicant’s home country must also be submitted to prove all the names
refer to the same person, the applicant.
F. The University reserves the right to demand additional documents to prove or verify the
authenticity of submissions or eligibility.
G. Any inaccurate information in the documents or incomplete documents may cause exclusion of
the applicant from consideration.
H. The submitted documents will not be returned to applicants.
I. Other issues not dealt with in this guidebook will be handled based upon the decision of the
Commission of University Admission Management of CAU.
J. Accepted candidates will be subscribed to National Health Insurance system automatically.
K. Successful candidates must submit certificate of graduation, certificate of registration with an
Apostille issued from the government authorities in the applicant’s home country. Successful
candidates from countries that are not member nations of Apostille should submit the documents
with consular legalization issued from Korean consulate in the applicant’s home country. (Instead
of the Apostille certificates, Chinese applicants can submit academic record certificates and degree
certificates issued by the relevant verification center under the Chinese Ministry of Education.)

12. Application for 'Certificate of Admission'
A. After being admitted, foreign applicants must complete an online application on the OIA
Website in order to receive the standard Certificate of Admission, which is required to apply for
their D-2 visa.
B. Points to consider when applying for an admission letter
1) Applicants must submit a copy of their Foreigner Registration Card (RC) or Passport to the
CAU Office of International Affairs (OIA) if a change has been made to their Foreigner
Registration Card (RC) or Passport.
2) The student is responsible for any problems caused by their non-compliance to submit
within
the application period and for any errors in the information they provide.
3) Under the Immigration Act of Korea, students without visas for studying abroad may not
study in Korea. In this case, you may apply to cancel your admission or withdraw from school.
Your tuition fee will be refunded according to the university policy.
※ The criteria for submitting the standard admission certificate application and balance certificate for
successful applicants who do not meet the Korean language requirements will be announced at a

13. Required Documents for Certificate of Admission Issuance
A. Issuance of Bank Balance Certificate
