The main focus of Learning Unit 1 is to consider alternatives to becoming a culturally responsive teacher. The EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES for this week are to: 1) gain a conceptual understanding of culturally relevant pedagogy; 2) consider the potential of cultural relevant pedagogy for handling diversity in the SA context; and 3) imagine the possibilities of education for democratic citizenship and the mutuality of friendship for culturally relevant pedagogy, an inclusive pedagogical approach and teacher agency.
EXPECTATIONS for this week:
1. Attend the Lecture (Week 2, LU 1) on the cultural relevant pedagogy
2. Access information on the implications of education for democratic citizenship and
the mutuality of friendship for handling diversity in the classroom
3. Revisit the BB self-study worksheet 2 on potential and possibilities
4. Access Tutorial Groups. Tutors will establish contact.
