watching films, but I also would enjoy sharing my experience with more people.

-Hi there! I see that you are a film fan too. Why have you joined this club?

I’ve joined this club becuase I hook on watching films and I’d like to find someone who sharing
feelings and exchange information to. Moreover, I didn’t want to pay so much for watchig
movies.

-That’s cool. I love cinema too. What’s your favourite film and why?

Troy is my favourite film which is charactered by famous actors like Brad Pitt or Orlando
Bloom. I love this movie because I like the ancient Greek and Roman history so I prefer
historical films as this.

-It’s great to chat with another cinema fan. Did you hear that the club is going to offer special
international film nights? What do you think of this idea?

Really? I think this idea is amazing because I spend many hours of day studying so when the
nights comes I only want to take a break enjoying seeing films which is one of my favourites
hobbies.

WRITING TASK 4: INFORMAL AND FORMAL EMAIL

CINEMA CLUB

You are a member of a cinema club and you have received this email from the club
secretary.

Dear Member,

We are writing to inform you that the International Film night has been cancelled due to lack
of interest from members. Any member who has purchased a ticket will be refunded 50% of
the cost. We cannot refund the full price of the ticket as this is a late cancellation. We
apologise for this situation and appreciate your understanding.

explaining your feelings about the changes and what you think the club should do about the
situation. You should use informal English and write 40-50 words.

What’s your opinion about the news?

I’m very dissapointed with this situation because I really think they should give us another
solution. I think that if the club cannot refund us the full price we paid they should keap on
their iniciative. I’m going to respond us.

First of all, I would like to say you I am concerned about the inesperate new and I think that If I
were you I would not solve the problem that way. All members, who paid the price of tickets,
have gathered in order to give some solutions you and fix this embarrasing situation.

We are concerned with the problem so all members, who paid the price of tickets, have
gathered in order to offer you some solutions, not only do you fix this embarrased situation,
but also we enjoy it.

Regarding to the proposals focused on the problem, we think the international night film not
ought to cancelled oherwise posponed to the next weed. In this way the club could get
audience between people who are not club members using online platforms or social networks
to announce the event.

I hope you consider our alternative.
