Activity 7

Discuss how you will respond to the cases presented and think of the best advice you can give and
explain the reasons.

Situation 1: Meeting someone in person you met online.

A classmate met somebody online and was asked her phone number and address. She confides in you
and you notice that she seems to have hooked in chatting with this ‘friend’. You know that there is a
possibility that she will be invited for a personal meeting. What advice would you give?

Answer: I'll explain to my classmate that meeting someone in person whom he/she only met online can
be risky. It is essential to prioritize personal safety by not sharing personal information like phone
numbers and addresses. Will advise my classmate to be cautious and verify the identity of the person
he/she been chatting with online. Encourage them to ask for more information or conduct video calls to
ensure the person is who they claim to be. If my classmate insists on meeting the person, I'll emphasize
the importance of meeting in a public place with plenty of people around. This can help ensure my
classmate's safety and reduce potential risks. And lastly, I'll remind my classmate to trust his/her
instincts. If something doesn't feel right or he/she feel uncomfortable, he/she should immediately
remove themselves from the situation and seek help from a trusted adult.

Situation 2:

Your best friend and you do not seem to like a group of classmates. You were asked to take pictures of
them in a school activity and since you have the file, your best friend chided you to distort and post it on
the internet. What should you do?

Answer: I'll explain to my best friend the importance of respecting others, even if you may not like
them. Encourage empathy and understanding towards different individuals and groups. Will advise my
best friend not to distort or post any pictures of our classmates without their consent. It is essential to
respect their privacy and refrain from engaging in any form of cyberbullying or harmful behavior.
Suggest alternative ways to deal with any negative feelings towards our classmates. And encourage my
best friend to focus on building positive relationships and finding common ground with others. Lastly, I'll
lead by example and show my best friend how to treat others with kindness and respect. .

Situation 3:

In your cooking class, you are talking to a classmate about finding a perfect friend. So you asked him, “If
you could cook up the perfect friend, what special ingredients would you include? What is your friend
like? What qualities do you think are important for a friendship to be healthy?”
Answer: A healthy friendship should value and appreciate individuality. And friends should be able to
rely on each other and keep each other's confidences. Moreover, I'll encourage my classmate to value
support and empathy in a friendship. Being there for each other during both good and challenging times
is crucial for a healthy bond.
